New Feature: Ask the Author

What is it?

Share your thoughts and questions on any book or author, and get responses from fellow Logos users (sometimes the author will respond, too!). Ask the Author empowers you to better understand the text and broaden your perspective.

*Only available while connected to the Internet.

What does it do?

The Ask the Author tool connects users more intimately to their library resources by giving them the opportunity to ask resource-related questions and receive feedback directly from the author(s). Questions will appear much like Community Notes. Users will be able to view questions posted by other users as well as author-contributed answers.

How does it work?

Select the Ask the Author tool—either from the tools menu or content menu—and a small panel will open on the left side of your screen where you can both post questions while reading and see other questions readers have asked.

Additionally, you can find your favorite authors on Faithlife, ask your questions, and read their responses.

Get connected to fellow readers, pose questions, and learn from others—this new tool makes it easier than ever to engage the text and get responses directly from the author.

How do I get it?

This feature is included in Core Crossgrade and all Starter-level packages and higher.

But when I do I show 0 questions. Am I doing something wrong?

Agreed, I just submitted a question to see what would happen and it immediately disappeared but it still shows on the author's Faithlife page.

I also notice that I don't have those little green boxes with the question mark in the text either. Was curious if there were others with/without them?

We have an issue where the visual filter is only showing up for the specific version of the resource the question was asked in. This is being worked on as we speak.

I'm surprised the questions are not showing up in the ask the author pane however. I'll try to reproduce that, and file a case.

I was able to reproduce it. I didn't think the embedded ask the author view would be dependent on the version of the resource but it looks like it is. It makes sense for the visual filters since if the version changes they might be slightly offset into the wrong place. We have a solution that we are working through for it though.

I'm unsure if that is what Bob was referring to. Sounds like it might've been, but I can't say for sure.

We have fixed the problem with resource version mismatches so you should be able to make full use of Ask the Author now.
