While construcitng these queries is good, we need to be aware that we are still at the mercy of the underlying metadata and it is a good idea to do a sanity check of the results.

    For instance

    1) I did a simple query of type:dictionary and got 80 resources.

    2) As a santiy check I did type: dictionary OR title:dictionary and got 85 results.

    3) To determine the difference betweent he two resource lists I then ran the query  title:dictionary -type:dictionary and got 5 hits.

These are the five hits that had dictionary that were the difference betweent the two lists are as follows:

Note in particular the first one, Anchor Bible Dictionary, (though the other may also be significant depneding on the collection you were building.  If i were building my collection using type:dictionary alone (plus any additional inclusion/exclusion paramters), then Anchor would miss out on being included in the collection.  To get it in there I would need to do type:dictionary title:dictionary (plus any additional inclusion/exclusion paramters).

Hence when using these queries do some sanity checks, look for title you woulld expect to be in the collections, are they actually there or not. To aid in this process I have added notepad to shortcut bar, so I have a quick scratch pad for cutting and pasting the queries as I do some sanity checks before settling on the final query.

I ended up settling on the following query for Dave's example.

(type:dictionary  OR title:(dictionary, topical)) -title:(greek, hebrew, lexicon, "Word Study", grammar, glossary, languages, vine's, Wordbook, "Word Book",zum,"Tense Voice Mood", "Theological Dictionary of the New Testament",Strong's)

This did not require the use of the Plus or Minus resource sections.  It built a collection of 48 resources.  I think what this exercise highlights is that a query that will work for one person may not work the same for the next simply because they have a different set or resources so if you are using one that someelse built still important to do a santify check yourself on your set of resources.

Yeah that is useful! - but not at all obvious... Can I suggest a button next to Browse | Prioritise like "Open in window" or something like that?

Now that I have learn't where to find a resource type I have found that Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary type is set to Monograph rather than Dicitonary.

    1) Drag the My Library button from the main toolbar down into the layout space (!).

It would seem to me that having the Library open in the layout space should be the default behaviour, like it is with the Search button.
