David,
Thank you very much for the detailed reply! It seems you have an older version of NET Bible. This is the latest shipping version:
2014-10-09T20:55:31Z
Below is my summary.
Ge 1:2(Note 10), Gen 1:5 (Note 20), Ge 1:26 (Note 51)
1) For the NET Bible, in cases where the notes do reference other Bible versions, it seems to always give the reader the pertinent words, negating the need for additional look up.
2) In general, our tagging rules are are set up to only tag references that are explicitly stated in the text. Even though in this case the reference to NRSV and NEB seems logical and simple, it still does not provide an explicit link point for us to use. If we were to start reading and interpreting texts to find logical connections,
A) the cost of producing a resource would increase dramatically, and in the case of the NET Bible, giving very little additional value (see point 1), and
In some resources we would be forced into making editorial choices, something we definitely do not want to do.
The text "NRSV" and "NEB" are simple abbreviations, and is tagged correctly as such.
Gen 1:6 (Note 23), Gen 2:4 (Note 11)
In the current version of NET Bible, "AnBib" is marked as an abbreviation. The reference for "Hebrew Conception of the World", was correctly marked up as a "partial reference" in our source, for future use. Because we only tag references that are explicit, we can only enable bibliographic links that has these minimum basic properties in the text: author, title, publisher and publishing year.
Ge 1:22 (Note 44)
"OBT" is functioning as an abbreviation for me.
Ge 1:29 (Note 61)
The WBC link is active and working for me.
Gen 2:4 (Note 9)
"CTJ" is correctly functioning as an abbreviation. We do not have the journal as resource though.
Gen 2:9 (Note 31)
"SHR" is correctly functioning as an abbreviation for me.
Gen 2:9 (Note 32)
The WBC abbreviation and link works for me.
Gen 2:10 (Note 34)
The Jubelees link is working for me.
