What is Logos CEF?
In my Task Mangler, I see the following lines for Logos.
I know what Logos.exe is, and I know what the indexer is.
What do the other two lines represent?
Eating a steady diet of government cheese, and living in a van down by the river.

CEF stands for Chromium Embedded Framework. It is the embedded web browser technology that powers features like the new homepage, interactives, and various Faithlife.com integrations.

Thanks, Alan. I always like to know what is running on my machine in the background. There are sometimes naughty kids who sneak in to the park. Not that I suspected these were malicious tasks, but it is nice to know what they are.

Why does my Mac Activity Monitor constantly show this resource is *NOT RESPONDING* - same file name where one is active and the other is "not responding" - STRANGE.
Seems like a problem (even if you're running it behind in case something happens) - just think if it's required, it should be active.
And everything else is working...Thoughts?

AHHHH. I now remember posting this before... HAHAHA. I guess what wasn't made clear was WHY this is a Chrome issue... I use FF and Safari. Must be due to the way Logos updates the homepage in the application?

CEF (as in LogosCEF) stands for Chromium Embedded Framework, thus Chrome. It's the tech that Logos uses for embedded web views, such as the Home Page. It doesn't actually relate to what browser you use. [:)]

I have just been asked permission for logosCEF to run on the twin's laptop (moving to the free L6 engine for the inline searches) ... Is chromium related to anything to do with Google? And will it require web access? I do not give permission for anything to do with the evil empire, nor does the laptop have access to the Internet except via a very prescriptive white list.

I think the question of does it have anything to do with Google is still relevant even knowing that it's embedded web browser technology that Logos uses. Alan did cite the word "Chrome" so the question remains whether Faithlife (then Logos) licensed this technology from Google. People who are very anti Google might not be happy about that. But it's still pretty clear from what has been said above in this thread that Google doesn't have their mitts on it anymore even if they were the origin of the technology (well, they still hold rights over the technology: see below). Might they have left hooks in the code that "phone home" to their evil empire which Faithlife didn't notice and didn't pull out? We may never know.

When I'm using "Listen & Learn: Greek", this process has my i5 proccessor running at 30% and the CPU fan running at max. Closing the tab for this makes it drop down to approx 2%. This have got to be some kind of a bug? When I open the resource, the process shoots right back up to over 30%.
