Content and Signals Auto do not remain linked

We setup an announcement or content and we find the content and signals initially get added and work together without updating the second. We then can change it and again the signals self update. But this seems not to work all the time. We of course duplicate a presentation to create a new presentation and change the content info. We end up having to run them independently which is a real shame and very annoying as it is open to contact manual errors. If is obviously supposed to update automatically and be linked but it just isn't doing so.

The underlying announcement signals will update automatically until you manually edit the signal itself. This is to allow a user to modify a signal to be different than the display content. Does this explain the behavior you've observed?

Looking at the slides in question is does not seem to be. I am considering the possibility someone accidentally edited the signal instead of the content slide and caused the issue which has then been duplicated each week since. I will make sure everyone who uses it knows of this aspect and if the problem reoccurs I will let you know.
Thanks for the info. I can see how that makes sense but I had not considered the need to have a difference between the two.

I've found where the issue arises. For ease of life I create a template announcement slide and due to editing the background image, box positions, colours for text and other aspects I then duplicate the slide to create a new announcement. It is this drag and drop duplication using CTRL which disconnects the signal from the content.
Is it at all possible to make the announcement slide a template where this does not occur in a different way to what I am doing, or alternatively can you look into this issue and ideally prevent the disconnection between signal and content.
Another idea as well is whether one can have a button to press to resync the signal with the content?0 -

Thanks for this detailed report. We'll spend some time looking into this and see what we can do.

I can also confirm the loss of the link occurs when I duplicate the entire presentation when using "Open" followed by a right click on last week's presentation and selecting "duplicate". The announcement which was working last week between content and signals now no longer works. This therefore means the link seems to only be maintained if one creates a new announcement from scratch each week.
I share this just to add to the previous details and thank you for your continued consideration of the issues faced.
