When using the Biblical Places maps, the "shadow" (translucent overlay) map gets in the way. Is there a way to disable or minimize this feature?
Tim, that overlay is supposed to be part of the map you've chosen.
If you don't want to see any overlays, the base map is called The Biblical World. You should be able to find that at the top of the list of maps. It has no overlay.
Thanks, Mark. But the Biblical Places maps serve my needs much better. The new overlays are much larger than those in Logos 5 and obstruct the actual maps.
I can't compare them. Can you post a screen shot showing what you mean?
Try moving your slider all the way to the left and then control the zoom with the center wheel of your mouse. Control + or - should also control your map zoom level.
Thanks, John, that's what I was looking for. In Logos 6 the slider (or C+/-) apparently sometimes controls the overlay/inset and sometimes controls the map, but this restores the type of functionality I was accustomed to in Logos 5. I'll get the hang of it.
I don't have a mouse (nor a wheel), so I am using the Control +/- buttons. However, the zoom is not really working. In fact, it is controlling the slider. So I was wondering what I do wrong.
This is how it looks like:
I see the same. This is nowhere near the same functionality as in Logos 5 where CTRL + and CTRL - do not affect the font slider.
So this is a bug then, no way to use it now.

I tried to find Athens and this is what shows up: A very, very empty biblical world. Without Athens on it.

Just found a good way out. Not Ctrl +/-, but using my touchpad as if it is the screen: using two fingers to expand.
I regard it as a bug and I don't have a workaround!

Sorry we don't have more maps yet with Athens: we have several in the pipeline, so you should see them soon.
Note that Athens is on the "Biblical World -- The Early Church" map: you just have to zoom in to see it (which is tricky if you don't already know where it is!). Once we ship Ctrl-F finding (coming soon i believe), that will make it easier to find locations that aren't visible at the current zoom level.
In the meantime, if you start from Factbook, this map will zoom you directly in to the location (a little too far, actually, but that should also be improved in an upcoming release).
Thanks Sean, I found it. But since I have to zoom so much, it is not helpful. So I will wait for the new release (hopefully the zoom function works better also) and in the meantime I use the Biblical Places Maps, which is still very nice!
Faithlife - when can we get the same zoom control with CTRL+/- as Logos 5?
It looks to me like (on Mac at least) Cmd-+ increases the font size of the current panel content (including in Atlas), so it may be that sequence has been appropriated for other purposes. Are you asking about a keyboard shortcut to zoom the map itself in and out? I don't know if there is one, but i'll inquire.

Just to return the zoom keys CTRL +/- (CMD?? for Mac) as they worked in Logos 5!
