Bug report? Don't know if it was you or me.

Today was the worst Sunday Service ever for us.  I'm not sure if the problem is on our end or yours.  Nothing had changed on our end this week except that this morning Proclaim wanted to update.  What we experienced was an EXTREME delay in starting videos and music.  The two times I timed it there was a 50 second delay between clicking the video slide that should have started automatically and the video actually beginning.  There was a similar delay (I didn't time it, but I sure felt it) when audio tied to a slide or to a section should have begun.  During our communion time, we have a plain black slide that has two or three songs attached to it.  There was a 50 second delay before the first song began, then another long delay before the second one started.

Thankfully, I'm quite comfortable on a computer.  When this began, I immediately opened the task manager (We are on windows 8.1).  I noted that every time we started a song or a video, our disk usage shot to 99 or 100 percent.  The top item was an item named Window Audio Device Graph Isolation.  Upon googling, we discovered its purpose is to stop unwanted programs from changing audio settings.  (as I understand it).  After the service we restarted the computer, same outcome.  I opened the sound settings and looked at the advanced settings and unchecked the box marked allow audio enhancements. (after verifying our audio drivers were up-to-date.  The service ran correctly at that point.

I write to you for your input.  None of these settings were changed from last week till this week.  However, today it was a problem.  Is there something in the most recent update of Proclaim?  I'm including our log files as well as a screenshot of our task manager at the time that we were trying to play a video. ( The screenshot won't load here, but I can email it to you if its helpful)

Thanks in advance...

Hello Shannon, I'm sorry to hear about the issues you encountered this Sunday. The most recent update to Proclaim was very minor and shouldn't have changed anything related to audio/video playback. Proclaim has been using Windows Media Player since the very beginning.

This is the first I've heard of audiodg.exe impacting Proclaim but it sounds like you found the culprit. After a little searching you don't appear to be the only one having issues with this service. In Larry Osterman's blog he points out that third party code is executed in the audiodg service, meaning it's possible that a change to another application on the system could be the cause. Can you think of any other program changes made to the machine in the last week?

No, sincerely we didn't change or update anything else.  And it was only upon the attempted start of video or audio files through proclaim that caused the audiolog.exe to suddenly max out the computer.  As I said, in checking the enhancements seems to have fixed the problem. I will be there on Wednesday and will try again.

On another note, proclaim on my Mac at home using Yosemite is crashing upon exit every time. 😞

thanks for all the work you do...

Let us know how it goes.

We have a known crash when quitting on Yosemite. We should be shipping an update (Mac only) for this today.

I tried logging in as you, and when I viewed your most recent presentation I was unable to crash upon exiting. Is there anything specific that you are doing which leads to the crash? Or does this happen no matter what you are doing before shutdown?

Any presentation.  Works fine on the Mac, but every time I shut proclaim down, after a few seconds, I get a big error message, which I just ignore, because I was shutting it down anyway.  I had just seen that you guys were asking people's reports on this so I thought I'd mention it.

Forgot to post last night regarding the Windows 8 computer we use for presentations.  I turned it on for a trial run last night (Wednesday).  It worked fine.  Videos played on time with no delay.  I received a report that it had been used that morning for Chapel service and worked fine as well.  So, in the name of troubleshooting, I reselected the allow enhancements box under advanced sound settings, everything fell apart again...videos started only after extreme delay and the task manager revealed 100% disk usage.  While I'm relieved to have solved this issue for now, I'm perplexed why this just now became a problem and why no one else is showing the same troubles.  Our computer is fairly new with no programs running in the background.

Thanks for looking out for us...
