Here are some books I would like to see added to the Logos/Verbum library.  Others can feel free to add their own suggestions in subsequent posts.

  • Jesus of Nazareth, Volume 1 - Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI
  • Jesus of Nazareth, Volume 3 - Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI
  • Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church
  • United States Catholic Catechism for Adults
  • Anything and everything by C. S. Lewis
  • Anything and everything by J. R. R. Tolkien
  • More of Scott Hahn's Image/Doubleday books
  • Fr. Barron's (Word on Fire) homilies (On his website, he has audio for his Sunday homilies going back 14 years!  This would integrate very well into use side-by-side with the Lectionary on Verbum)
  • A Treasury of Sacred Music (to go along with the new Treasury of Sacred Art, of course)
  • Vatican Council II Daybooks (3 volume set)
  • Books by Our Sunday Visitor - They have some nice Scripture apologetics mini-books (e.g. Patrick Madrid's "Where is That in the Bible", "Where is That in Tradition?", etc.) as well as some out-of-print books by Alfred McBride on the Gospels and other New Testament books, John Salza's "Biblical Basis..." books, the Lectio Divina Bible Study series, George Martin's "Bringing the Gospel of ... to Life" series, and more.  In any case, I notice that Logos does not appear to offer anything from this publisher, and I'd like to see them start.
  • The Beginning Apologetics set from San Juan Catholic Seminars
  • Didache Textbook series from Midwest Theological Forum

I'm sure I will think of more later.

Welcome to the forums Average Joe.

Very nice list.  I second your recommendations.

Thank you for the welcome. :)  I've been using Logos for a couple years, but finally had the chance to upgrade to a Verbum package.

Now that I think about it a bit more, there are a lot of USCCB resources that could be added:

    • National Directory for Catechesis
    • Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan
    • Go and Make Disciples
    • Renewing the Vision
    • Doctrinal Framework for High School textbooks
    • much more, I'm sure

Also, there are some other types of Catechisms it would be nice to see added.  The Baltimore Catechism for one.  The Apostolate for Family Consecration has their Family Catechism as well.  AFC also has lot of videos online with Cardinal Arinze and others that are related to their Family Catechism and could be incorporated into Logos/Verbum in the same sort of way as the Fr. Barron and Catholic Answers video libraries.

With my recent upgrade, now I'm looking for ways to get my entire library cross-connected through Logos. [:D]

I would like to see their study guides to various church documents in Verbum - another possibility for parish small groups facilitated through Verbum. The British bishops also produced a great statement on Bible Study that should be included.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    I thought of a few more. [:)]

Servant Books (now a division of Franciscan Media, formerly known as St. Anthony Messenger Press) has lots of great titles.  Logos already has Scott Hahn's "A Father Who Keeps His Promises".  But Servant has also published a series of reprints of classic works of Catholic biblical theology that were hand-picked by Dr. Hahn and published in conjunction with his St. Paul Center (Corbon's "Path to Freedom", Mork's "Transformed By Grace", McDonough's "The Divine Family", and Durrwell's "Holy Spirit of God.").

They also publish "From Genesis to Jesus" and a whole series from Kimberly Hahn ("Chosen and Cherished", "Beloved and Blessed', etc.).  There is also Mark Hart's "Ask the Bible Geek" books and a few books by Dr. Alan Schreck that would be nice additions.

All in all, it seems like another good publisher with which to establish a strong relationship.
