Menus: VNC -vs- RDP
I've done my first install on a headless laptop. The LCD connection broke so I can't do much with it, but I can use it as a beta machine, which I do.
For background: I use an S-Video cable from the laptop to a secondary port on my monitor and run my monitor in Picture in picture mode (PIP) so that I can see my real computer and the laptop at the same time.
S-video is not very clear so as soon as possible I installed Ultra-VNC. Now I can get a clear and full sized window on my main desktop by logging in via VNC.
All of that background to make an observation: The menus in Libronix 4 are NOT visible through VNC. Whatever mode you are using to draw them makes it impossible whatever the encoding I use to make them visible through the network. Is this a bug? NO. But you should know it somewhere in your knowledge base so that if anyone asks you know.
Now for an experiment, I go through a major jig to make Microsoft Remote desktop connection work on the laptop: (Windows RDP doesn't work very easily because Windows XP Home crippled that feature requiring verifications etc.) Remote Desktop for windows DOES show the menus.
No action Item's here, this is for information purposes only incase anyone else should be trying to run via VNC or RDP.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.
