Here is a Reformed review of his book.

Obviously, I can't speak for the review or it's author other than to note that it was based on the first edition of the book.  Editorial comments are hard to avoid by authors and it is the reviewers' job to make editorial comments.  I can say that after some searching (unfortunately w/o the benefit of Logos)I was not able to find the quotes referenced in the review in my current paper edition (2008, 400 pages, link above).

What struck me re: the review was (a) that the Anglican and Lutheran traditions were "too short" ... yet they so clearly retain much of their Catholic roots so that much of the Catholic material pertains, only differences need be noted and (b) re: Free Church et. al. "though the devalue the Eucharist" ... given that the subtitle is celebration of the Eucharist, how much of their tradition falls within the scope of the subject matter.

Mind you, Foley is not my favorite text on the subject but I have been assigned it as a textbook. I simply wonder if the reviewer reviewed in respect to Foley's intended audience and purpose. I have no trouble reading the review from the perspective of the reviewer's audience and needs so I think the review is helpful.
