Marking Text in Order to Find it Later?

I would like to be able to systematically tag or highlight selections in my various reading that have good expositions on any portion of Scripture in order to find it later. There are a couple ways I can think to do this, but I'm not sure if they're possible.

I considered using a custom highlighting style and then attaching that highlighter to the cited by tool, but I don't think this is possible. If I can do this it would be preferred because then I can highlight everything from my mobile device.

The alternative I can think of is tagging selections of text in a resource as "expositions", but I'm not sure if this is possible. I think I remember hearing that you can tag just selections of text instead of the entire resource, but I have no idea how.

Otherwise maybe a clippings doc, or a personal book, but these seem way more labor intensive.

Does anyone else have a system they use to mark Bible expositions so that they can come back to them later? I'm also considering doing topical tagging too. Has anyone had experience with this that has a good system?

Not sure what you mean by this - can you expand please?

If I can do this it would be preferred because then I can highlight everything from my mobile device.

In Logos 6 you can search for highlights so this is certainly an option to explore

If I understand what you're saying here, I believe that this is what I do. I create Notes documents as applicable. For me, that means each book of the Bible has its own Notes document where I store highlights ("tagging") when I'm doing general Bible reading. I create a Notes document for all the readings in one of my seminary classes. I create a Notes document for the book I'm currently preaching through. Etc. Depending on the purpose for which I'm reading, I make sure my highlights go to the appropriate Notes document. To facilitate that, I have desktop Logos and mobile (the Bible app) set to save highlights / notes to "Most Recent Note Document."

If I'm reading in desktop Logos, I select the text that I want to highlight (or annotate with a note). For highlights, I mostly use a shortcut key that I've assigned to the highlight style. If I'm reading on mobile, I select the text, pick "Highlight" or "Note" from the menu that pops up, and then pick the highlighting style. I also make sure that the Notes file the annotation will go in is the one I want (to make sure that it is the "Most Recent" note document).

I'd like to use clippings more, but there's a serious (IMO) deficiency. When you click a clipping to go to that location in a resource, the portion of the resource that you highlighted when you created the clipping is not itself highlighted. There's a brief animation around the start of the originally-selected location, but if you miss that, you have to find the section in the resource yourself. At present, I'm trying to work around this - I created a "Clipping" highlight style and am using that as a means to "clip" resource locations. It works OK, but it's not quite as good as a fully-functional clipping would be (esp b/c a "note" doesn't allow you to enter a "tag," as a clipping does - a deficiency in notes).
