BUG as designed: difficulties with user interface

See https://community.logos.com/forums/p/99845/690243.aspx#690243 for background re: missing tagging. This is a good example of why finding something in Logos can be difficult for an inexperienced user. As I illustrated in the other thread neither Factbook nor Topic Guide will find the text of the Athanasian Creed for a user. If one uses the Everything Search one actually gets the best results ... if you know how to do it. The everything search drop down shows lots of things ... but nothing that actually works.

What works is quotes to make it a phrase search ... which is not suggested in the drop down

Note the Library Resources section is perfect for what is being requested. What is needed in the drop down is that every topic also appear as a simple search term or phrase so the inexperienced user is led to realize there is a choice and to make an informed decision. Then at least if they guess wrong they will know it may be worth trying the other. This would also parallel the showing of a Bible reference as typed as an option.

Probably start with Factbook as it does suggest the best search; which is <Topic Athanasian Creed> OR "Athanasian Creed"  (in Beta 3)

    Huh?

And the new user is to know which to choose how?

If it were a personal question, I'd simply open The Book of Concord and skip Search/Topic Guide/Factbook entirely. But I don't think answering a user's forum question with "well, you just know which resource to open" is a desirable answer.

When I search everything in basic search mode, I do not have a topic section between factbook and library resources as there is on your screenshot. Is this a new beta element in 6.1 or what am I missing? I was interested in the Look it up part (under topics) to see what it brings up.

I honestly don't know - we had been complaining that the section had dropped out so it may be the beta.

Topic section was dropped from v6.0x, so this has been re-introduced by 6.1 beta as it does not appear for <Topic Athanasian Creed>; only "Athanasian Creed", salvation, baptism, etc

i don't mind it in Everything search and others had been asking for it to be brought back.

I only said "Probably start with Factbook as it does suggest the best search". It wasn't a researched recommendation, but Factbook (as a starting point) appears to have the query correctly formatted in the Search link of See Also
