BUG? Very frustrating resource wasting library behavior

  1. Open a new Collection to verify the automatic Church Fathers collection.
  2. Open library
  3. Start reading through series facet values to find the church father series
  4. Start adding a series to the Selection line of the collection ... don't even have the syntax complete
  5. AARGH: the library starts trying to update, hiding the series name you are trying to copy
  6. AARGH: the library collapses all the "mores" you clicked to get to the series name
  7. Think something nasty and go back to the old sorted detail view approach

Is it really supposed to work this way? While the behavior can be seen to be logical, it is also anti-productive work.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    +1

I just upgraded to Logos 8 Platinum, so I was trying to follow best practice to tag newly purchased commentaries. After the first successful tag, while I am working on the second and subsequent commentary or group of commentaries ... typing part way through, the info panel in Library refreshes, sometimes to a blank panel ... I end up have to look for and remove the partial tag and re-tag it again.

Please consider to fix as soon as practical. I pity those who are buying BIG libraries and who are discipline enough to tag their library [:)]

Does reproducing this bug actually have anything to do with having the Collections Tool open, or are you just seeing the Library refresh (while you're using it) because the "Updating library catalog" yellow bar is showing at the top?

I'm not sure what to actually do to repro the bug.

    Bradley,

For my case, Collections Tool was not open.  I am just seeing the Library refreshes (while I am typing a new tag), yes the "Updating library catalog" yellow bar is showing at the top.

To reproduce my case after purchasing Logos 8 Platinum, I sort Library by "last update", filter by "commentaries",

    • I pick the first commentary in the list and tag (eg. "CommentaryCritical") ... yes the "Updating library catalog" yellow bar appears
    • I pick the second commentary in the list to tag ... while typing half way through (eg. I type "Comm" ), Library Refreshes when "Updating library catalog" is done, it disrupted my tagging process, and the commentary is tag as "Comm". If I recall correctly, in Logos 7, the refresh happened, but, does not interupt my tagging (I am not 100% sure).
    • If I tag a group (series of commentaries, the info panel goes blank

PS: MJ, sorry for hijacking your thread ...
