Linking to a resource within a note
I see how to link to a bible text within the notes editor, but I cannot figure out how to link to a specific location in a resource that is not the Bible. I can't find how to do this.
For example, how would I link within a note anchored to Colossians 1:15 to a section within a commentary on Colossians?

You link to the location in the commentary.
Click the vertical dots icon at the top right, and in the copy location bar choose URL
Paste the results into the Note using the link icon - optionally having previously selected a word in the note to associate the link with
Then the note links to the correct place in the resource

I don't have Logos 8 yet, but does this mean that copying the text from the commentary and pasting it into the note no longer includes the hyperlinked bibliographic information?

It pastes the text and the bibliographic entry but it isn't hyperlinked.
Hopefully someone from Faithlife will be able to comment on this.

I'm not seeing this Graham. Am I doing something wrong or is it not yet implemented on Mac?

I see this
What do you get when you copy / paste some text into a note?

I get what you are getting Graham. The work around is to highlight the text, copy it and paste it into the Note, then go back and hit CTRL-ALT-C (in Windows) and go to the note and create the link back to the text.

I'm guess I'm curious as to why there is a workaround needed. It seems strange that Faithlife would remove this automatic hyperlinking - especially considering that Logos 8 is being marketed at "Easier to use." I was so looking forward to the new Notes feature, but the more and more I learn about it, the more disappointed I am becoming as I see that it is going to be even more work to have notes set up like I use them in L7.
I would be grateful to hear a response from Faithlife about if there is a plan to fix the auto hyperlinking.

I do agree that automatic hyperlinking would be very helpful.
Though I am going to go on record and say I love the new notes tool and am pretty excited about Logos 8

I believe linking is on the list: https://faithlife.com/posts/1567044

I always use the L4 button. Should I be using URL instead?

Just to confirm. We are aware of this issue and I'll see about adding it to the FAQ.

Ot shouldn’t make a difference within Logos. Outside of Logos, the URL link requires internet access but works in any app hyperlinks can be used. The L4 option doesn’t require internet access but is blocked by some apps, especially on a Mac.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Both will work - but URL is recommended moving forward.
L4 is still there mainly for compatibility reasons.
And some people can give a much better explanation than I have just done!

All I was getting was the pasted text but I discovered that the "copy citations" setting was off.
By the way, did you add the extra line between the text and citation or was that automatic. It's only doing a single carriage return for me so it's extremely difficult to visually distinguish between the text and the citation.

Thank you for letting us know Alan. It’s reassuring to know this hasn’t been forgotten among all the other things on the notes “to-do list.“ I appreciate it.

This is what I get when doing copy / paste
I'm on Windows. Are you doing this on Mac?

Yes, I'm on Mac. I just wanted to make sure you aren't manually adding the space before assuming it's a bug on Mac.
