Logos 8
I'm encountering several problems after uodating as a logos now owner to the logos 8 features. I can't get on the dashboard the card to the courses, they don't appear on the dropdown list, that is completely blank. And yesterday looking at the new packages I liked the new books in the starter package, so I bought that and do find now, that they don't download into my logos software. Anyone know how to deal with this problem? I had always the automatic download on and had a lot of updates and indexing going on before I got the new features download, so I think I had all the updates before getting to Logos 8. I appreciate help on this.

To see a course in the dashboard you need to ensure you have started it in the Courses Tool. Does that help?

The first thing I would try is the "update now" command in the command box

Graham I can access the course through the courses tool and the library, but still can't place it as a card on the dash board. When I click on the dashboard for courses to place as a card, like with the prayer lists and devotionals, it appears as a complete blank. I tried to put "update now@ in the command box, but it only gives a search result for the words. So I am still at a loss.

When I opened Logos 8 again the card has appeared on the dashboard. Thanks for that tip. Now only the download of my new books are the problem.

You need "update now"
In your example you have a "@"

That was a typing error, my key board has switched the " for @, but I did type in the command box "update now" and it only goes to search for the words. In logos 8 the search icon is right next to the command box and seems to work in tandem with it, so that may be another glitch in the software. Though the course card appears on the dash board, still when I get to the right hand side of the dash board from which the drop down list of courses, devotionals, prayer lists etc should appear, the course list is still a blank, none of the courses I own are appearing there. So all functions on Logos 8 are not functioning the way they should.

So just to be clear when you type "update now" you are seeing the search options from the screenshot below but not the Tools option?

Yes, that's right. I had a look at some of the other postings in the forum and it appears that the problem is with the Logos server not downloading the lists and the updates, so hopefully the tech team will look into that.

Are you using a non-English version of Logos 8? If so, you may have to use the localised "update now" command.

Geertruida, try the command Update Resources and see if that will trigger the download.
Also, are you certain that the email address you logged into Logos.com with (and made your purchase) is the same one associated with your software account? That info is in Logos in the About Logos Bible Software screen accessed through the 3 vertical dots on the far right side of your Logos menu bar.

I tried this Mark with the same result as before, get the search answers instead of the command being doing what it is supposed to be doing. And yes, the account is the same, everything worked fine until I got the Logos 8 features downloaded into the software. The Logos server isn't downloading the stuff, I found that others had the same problem and they all were convinced that the problem was with the Logos server.

Can you enable logging, run (type in) the update now command, and post the log file?

You should not be getting search results. When you type in the command it will give you suggestions:
If you finish typing the command or select the suggested one under Tools, you should then click GO (not the magnifying glass).
Is this what you are doing and seeing?

I tried that and now resources did show up, the server is simply not downloading the resources or course lists

typing error, no updates of resources did show up, they were searching for updates, but didn't find one. so no solving of the problem yet. Also the account on logos.com and my logos8 software are the same, before this update of the full new logos 8 feature set, automatic download did work perfectly, I never had a problem with it at all.

You've been very patient.
If you haven't done it yet you might close Logos, reboot your computer, and then open Logos again.
The only other thing I can think of is that in the past a setting in Logos could go awry. It had to do with a database that kept track of downloads, I believe. Problems that used to come up with that seem to have been eliminated a long time ago. I think someone else from Faithlife is going to have to look into what is going on because that sort of thing is beyond most of us users.

I am having this exact same problem--as well as others with the cards. Did anyone figure it out??

No David, it is something the tech team is working on. Via the course tool, I've been able to get the card for the course I am working on, on the dashboard, but so far none of my coursed have shown up when I press the button for courses. Customer service mailed me to be patient as the tech team is working on solving this and other problems which users have reported.
