Notes

When creating a Note in Logos 8, I have to remember to select the notebook for each note every time I enter a new one.

Please make the notebook choice persistent from one note to the next.

  • This will save much time while adding new notes (ie working my way through a chapter of Isaiah)
  • This will also save time hunting down the orphans where I forgot this step, to add them to the notebook.

Suggestion: "Pin" it.

Hey Jack, can you give some more information? When I have a notebook selected both new notes I create in the tool and new notes from the context menu in resources put the new note in the proper notebook.

    Why?

The big liberation of the New Notes system is that you don't need notebooks at all! Of course if they fulfill some kind of organisational structure for your research, you are free to use them. And if you keep the Notes Tool open and have the Notebook selected once (use the notebook tab, not the filter tab to the left of it), it should add all subsequent notes you write in the Notes tool or add to selected text elsewhere to exactly that notebook.

    Do you see different?

BTW David, I sure appreciate your prompt responses.

Here is a screen shot where the filter is set to choose the notebook "Isaiah Notes"

Yet when I add a new note, the current notebook is blank, and I must click the notebook icon for this note and then search for Isaiah to attach this note to that notebook. If you can show me steps to avoid this, I'd appreciate it.

    SET LIGHTBULB ON

If I choose "Isaiah Notes" in the leftmost panel (the books, not the filter), it works as you said. Duh.

Jack, choose your notebook from the Notebook Facet (click on the icon just to the right of the funnel) and it will work. The one on the left filters your notes but doesn't affect where your notes are sent. To do that follow the direction above.

EDIT: Looks like you figured it out while I was responding. Good!
