Yes, I agree, underwhelming. This is not the only metadata issue that the faceted approach has exposed!
This is obviously due to the Subject field not being "Genesis" but rather "Genesis 1-17". The subject facet, as I understand it, is a special case of at tiered facet. The facet should be opening anything from Genesis before displaying chapter ranges. This *could* be as simple as editing the subject metadata to include "--" between the book name and any chapter ranges. If this is undesirable, the backend logic could perhaps take care of this quite easily as well.

The subject is set by the publisher - I don't know how much freedom Faithlife has - but we need to inform Faithlife of what doesn't work so they can address it.

Is the true of the formatting of the Subject? The reason this doesn't seem probable is that a Faithlife employee (Andrew B?) explained that the "--" marked the different levels in the hierarchy, so there would have to be a high level of consistency...

I think that's Industry and/or Library of Congress standards ... I'll have to ask a librarian friend ...
It was said when we moved from Libronix to Logos 4 the library subject field would be populated using the Library of Congress classification system which can clearly be seen in the screen shot of the front matter of the book which MJ posted above. I don‘t know the in’s and outs of how the classification for a given book is chosen. There was a lot of discussion in the newsgroups at the time of the pro’s and con’s of the system.
This was the days in which Logos Bible Software was more open in discussing changes with users before making them. I remember the Titus project which was when the software moved from the Logos Library System to Libronix, The progess of the change was openly discussed with users and not hidden from them, anyone could join the beta testing and at times open invitations were made to do alpha testing.

I would imagine that Faithlife will want to solve this. Kyle Anderson would be the best person to comment. Perhaps additional LoC subjects can be added for those volumes, or perhaps developers could add logic to capture chapter numbers and treat them as second level subjects.

This would be preferable to me, seeing that it would eliminate values like "Genesis 11-17" from the book level filter where they currently just add clutter. Additionally, it would allow one deeper level of filtering where desired.

We do indeed! We pretty much know how we want to tackle this problem, but have not had the time yet to implement it.
