Highlighting & Notes
Is there a way to turn off the "highlighting" connection in notes. I don't like the idea that every time I highlight something it goes into notes.

It's been that way for a long time - pre-Logos 8 a highlight was a special kind of note and stored in a Notes Document.
One of the changes in the new Notes Tool is a much cleaner way of differentiating between Notes and Highlights.
What concern / problem is this causing you?

Adding to what Graham wrote, there is an easy way for you to not be bothered with highlights in the new Notes tool: use the facet filter to only see the type Notes notes:

It used to be that all the all highlights went automatically into a Highlights" notebook. is there any way to still make that happen automatically?

There is no longer a need for this as highlights and notes are no longer the same thing. You can select to view highlights from the filter menu.

I don't recall that being the case. Highlights went into notebooks according to a palette that was used (like "Highlighter Pens" or "Solid Colors"). I don't see that happening in the new Notes tool (actually I never cared about that and maybe my quick test was not as thorough as should have been) - but otherwise I don't see the usefulness of having those notebooks. Maybe you can explain?
I personally look forward to having facets that let me filter the type Highlight notes for actual colors or even icons used - those following the Precept way of inductive bible study with highlighting should be glad when this will be implemented.

Highlights went into notebooks according to a palette that was used (like "Highlighter Pens" or "Solid Colors").
Highlights went into Documents depending on per-palette settings, including Palette-specific, resource-specific, last-used or specifically named.
I don't see that happening in the new Notes tool (actually I never cared about that and maybe my quick test was not as thorough as should have been)
With the new Notes Tool, you can set palettes to use no notebook, most recent notebook or a specific named notebook. So if you have a notebook selected, you can set highlighting palettes so highlights will get put into that notebook.

In general I agree. If, however, someone had been using - for example - a resource-specific notebook for highlights and wanted to carry on using the same one in the new Logos Tool that is something that can't be done.
But being able to filter by resource tends to remove the requirement.

I personally don't see or have a need for it in notes. I don't remember this happening in the prior version. I didn't use notes so that is most likely the reason.
