BUG: Changing the default reading plan layout
If you change the reading plan layout by replacing the default layout using "Replace with current layout", the specified layout loads when you open the reading plan.
However, when you click on the bible reading card, it no longer opens the Bible with the "Start reading" heading. As a result, when you finish reading the chapter, there is no way to update that you have read the chapter.
It is also not possible to update the reading plan from the reading plan card on the home page.
I am using Logos 8 on a 2017 Macbook Pro running High Sierra.

It is a workaround but it's not a fix because it does not open the page to the Bible you have selected in the reading plan.
The introduction of this new "feature" messes up the basic functionality of the reading plan feature UNLESS you want to use the default layout.
