This is for the Logos 8 home page.
On the home page there is so many things I really don't care to see, how do we remove them?
You can't edit the explore setion at the moment, but FL have said this is coming in a future update.
in the meantime you can populate your Dashboard with so many tiles that you can't see the Explore section!
I'm glad you clarified your request, but the best forum for Logos 8 queries is Logos 8!.
Frankly, I hate it when I click on Explore... [whatever] and it turns out it's a feature or resource I don't own. Very annoying and waste of time.
I'm with you on this one. Explore is as bad as the infamous talking paperclip. User customization should have been included before it was released.

Ouch. Are you sure it is quite that bad?
>>User customization should have been included before it was released.
On the up-side, now we might just get mass-user-feedback customization. That will be better yet. For me 8.0 is awesome and 8.1, coming soon, will likely please more people more.
Disabling the Explore section should have been available from day dot.
It's a tossup.
LOGOS remove the Explore bloat on the home page or my temptation to remove LOGOS might pass the tipping point.
This topic sounds like a repeat of the release of Logos 4 with its "newspaper" approach ... I suspect I could copy the posts over and people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I didn't understand then, and I don't understand now - except for people using accessibility aids that need to be retrained, why does something you don't need to look at or read and can, in fact, bypass completely generate such strong emotions? I'd much rather spend my life-time supply of ire on things like the lectionary function being messed up, the workflows not supporting multiple passages, the systematic theology ontology being anything but neutral (a quality required for a quality ontology) ... things that have an actual effect on using Logos.

Looks like we will be able to change things soon
That’s great it‘s not an issue for you, for those of us who used ‘select‘ components‘ of the Logos 7 equivalent of this Feature it is an issue for us and just as valid as the issues that are of concern to you. You might not understand it, but your lack of understanding does not invalidte the issue. I don’t use some of the features you use and are an issue for you but I would never try to talk down the relevance of them as you are giving the appearance of going here. But if I have come across with that attitude in the past somewhere along the line please accept my apology for not respecting what is important to you and if I stumble in the future humbly and genlty point out my failure. I ask you show the same respect to those who have different priorities to you rather than questioning them. These forums are for all users to provide feedback.
It‘s supposed to be coming in 8.1. If the forums are any guide then FL is possibly getting a lot of support questions about they content not being customisable in this section and so have decided upon the need to place this here in the software to try and quell the amount of concern this has raised. Clearly FL has not learnt from past lessons.
Greetings Doc
One of the problems with empathy is not being able to put ourselves in other shoes and see the world through their eyes. I am having difficulty empathising with both you and others that are asking for changes to the Home Page because I cannot see what the problem is.
It is not that want to diminish or undermine your request – in fact if I could understand it I might well want to support it. As it is I am totally neutral on the subject; for the most part I simply ignore it and it doesn't even register on my consciousness.

As I too am lacking in understanding about why this, what seems to me to be totally ignorable, feature causes such strong feelings amongst some users I wonder if you would be kind enough to explain a little.

I did use select components of the Logos 7 equivalent and I do understand that the current situation is not the ideal nor is it where Logos intends/intended to be. What I do not understand is why a few weeks of inconvenience - not loss of ability to accomplish tasks - generates such ire. Perhaps 70+ years has warped my view of what waiting a few weeks means.
The fact that FL have now put a message in the software that this issue is going to be adressed is an indication they intially took your view of the situation but that has not resonated with a significant number of customers. The Home Page is the first impression people get of the software and if that impression is of an incomplete job doesn’t build confidence for what they are going to find inside the software. If a users first point of their workflow is interrupted, even if it only turns out to be for a few weeks, then it won‘t be well received. I would have thought your lifetime of experience dealing with people would have taught you of the nature of people that this sort of reaction should have been expected. As a company who is dependent upon people receiving their software well, and based on past experiences like Logos 4 I would have thought they would also understood this and done a much better job of communicating the changes to the home page, particularly what they removed, why and how now to access those things in Logos 8 along with the features they were wanting to include but could not have ready in time.
I am reluctant to say this because I am just of guilty of doing this as anyone else is on these forums but we all tend to be inward looking and think about these sort of points of difference from our own perspective only and expect everyone else to fall in line with our view point instead of respecting we are all unique. For some the Homepage will be a bigger deal than it is for others. It does t make any of us more right or more wrong than anyone else.

No but I have 20+ years of experience of building systems that had to support a broad variety of people in a broad variety of conditions... and it is unwise for me to compare ...
