How to Search Within a Resource?

Pardon my ignorance here, but I am only recently signing onto Logos. I am having trouble understanding how to search for a particular verse in an open resource from my iPad. For ex., I am reading through Nigel Turners “Grammatical Insights into the New Testament“ and wanted to see what he says about I Timothy 2.12. So, I put this passage in my search bar up top & it takes me to a whole different (new) search page. So I typed in the same passage and only three resources pop up in my entire library, which I know is not accurate with over 350 sources. Even then, when I tap on any result produced by the searich (i.e., one of the three) it defaults to Codex Sinaiticus (I may have set that up myself, but don’t know how to change that?).

Thank you in advance (might take me a day or two to respond, but just wanted to check w. the pros 😊).

Sorry, can't help you here - maybe the thread would have been better in the mobile forum. But from using inline search on <I Timothy 2.12> on the desktop I understand that Turner does not discuss this passage.

It will help getting precise answers if you give some additional information on the app version you are using.

Sorry, can't help you here - maybe the thread would have been better in the mobile forum. But from using inline search on <I Timothy 2.12> on the desktop I understand that Turner does not discuss this passage.

It will help getting precise answers if you give some additional information on the app version you are using.

Thanks, but not even sure how to tell which version. I think it’s the Logos 7, but only just now getting some familitary w. the app. Will check and repost more info. when I find out.

I suspected that Turner might not discuss the passage.

Tap the three dots icon at the top right of the resource and select Search

Then in the search window enter the reference you want to search for - I went with 1 Tim 2 - and you need to enclose them in <> to match different ways it is referenced.

As you thought he doesn’t refer to verse 12

I am not sure that that is possible directly just yet.

While I always defer to Grahams superior knowledge. Tapping that icon always brings me (and I suspect you too) to a panel that wants to search the 'Entire Library'. I don' t know how to change that.

In your position I would open app.logos.com in my browser and use the Web app to open the resource. The web app has an inline search icon in the resource tool bar. Don't forget that a four finger swipe will let you move quickly between your Logos App and the Web App once the Web App has been opened.

On the bottom right of the screen there are three horizontal lines (the Navigation Draw) go to Settings – Bible Version and set your preferred bible then open that Bible from the Library Icon.

You can also do this by using the prioritisation features of Logos 8 on your desk top.

It always (for me ) shows 'Search Entire Library' and I don't know how to change that :-(

Slowly catching on. Been an Olive Tree user for years, but like the emphasis on practical grammar with Logos.

Open resource and then click on the vertical dots on the upper right hand corner and a menu will appear. Click on search and it will only search that resource. If you want to change resources click on the “Change Resource” option. See pictures:

I think I am beginning to get a glimmer of insight.

Most of the time this seems to work but when I try the ESV, NASB ' but not 'GNT' Search' always reverts to 'Entire Library'.

I wonder if there is some underlying rule about how Search responds?

Mine works fine. Walton mentioned a “layer cake“ analogy and it appeared when I did a search on it. But...I do see what you mean. When I first did the search, the name of the resource showed, but when the search results appeared, it changed to “Entire Library“ instead of staying in the same book.

It seems to work sometimes for me and sometimes not.

I am still trying to figure it out.
