Is there a way to set a default notebook in the mobile app?

I agree we need to improve this behavior. We've discussed it, and I have some ideas on how to make it better (see below). But for now you have three options:

1. Set the notebook to use for the highlighting palette.
2. Open the notebook in the Notes tool and use the "New note" button and select "Highlight _______." All highlights will be added to the open notebook.
3. Multi-select them and then bulk add them to a notebook when you're done.

I think we should automatically add highlights to the open notebook (like #2) even if the highlights are taken through the Highlighting tool or using keyboard shortcuts. (Notes automatically get added to the active notebook as per #2, whether you use the "New note" button or the resource context menu.) If we did this, would it meet your needs? We'd probably need a new highlighting palette setting for "Active notebook."

The one issue we'd need to solve is what to do if you have two or more instances of the Notes tool open at the same time. Use the last active instance when deciding what to do with your highlight? Or just require that you have only one instance of the Notes tool open for this to work?

Also, it's probably worth considering whether a notebook is the right tool for the job.

Edit: I just noticed that this was posted in the mobile forum. My response assumed the desktop version. Some of this won't apply on mobile, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts.

I'm open to suggestions. I use the Notes only really because I had to in the previous Logos. Almost all my notes are highlights of text in commentaries, as I use Logos for sermon prep. I do not add my own notes to Logos, but instead use them in another system I have developed for sermon prep. So I have multiple highlights, for example, in multiple Romans commentaries stored in a note I created called "Romans notes" because I had to do that.If I could have simply kept the highlights particular to the individual book/commentary, I would have.

Is there a way to switch all my "notes" back to individual Logos volumes? A better way to organize my highlights now that there is a new system?

In the new system, your notes are automatically organized by

1. the kind of note they are (notes vs. highlights)
2. the resource they were taken in (if applicable)
3. the book of the Bible they were taken on (if applicable)
4. the type of reference they were taken on (if applicable)
5. who took the note
6. what the note was taken on
7. when it was taken
8. when it was last modified

If the purpose of your notebook lines up with one of these, you probably don't need it (unless you want to share it, control visual filters, etc. as outlined in this article).

You have multiple ways to find your Romans highlights.

1. Filter down to Type > Highlights (unnecessary if all your notes are highlights) and Bible Book > Romans.
2. Filter down to Type > Highlights (unnecessary if all your notes are highlights) and Resource > [some commentary on Romans].

Neither of these requires the use of notebooks or any manual work organizing your notes.
