Layouts: questions and suggestions

Although there is much to commend in L8, I am somewhat at a loss in figuring out how to make the new homepage work for me. In addition to a Bible reading plan, I read daily from multiple books using a generated reading plan to keep me on track. In L7, selecting the Bible reading plan did not change the active layout, but simply open the passage in the desired translation. Because of the serial nature of reading other material, usually I could simply pick up the next day where I left off, but the Bible reading usually requires initiation from the homepage unless I can remember yesterday's passage.

I know that you can replace the default Bible reading plan with the current active layout, but it really amounts to a snapshot in time rather than the dynamic layout that changes constantly.

• Would it be possible for an option for "Home Page Layouts" to not open any layout, but simply to use the current active layout?
  
  
• Could we also have a default layout that gets automatically updated when another layout is invoked? (I think that this would solve many of my specific issues. Presently, I have to go look for the snapshot of my default layout to restore things the way I want them.)
• Finally, when the layout changes based on a selection from the homepage, it would be nice to see a checkmark by the current layout in the layouts drop down.

Right now, I can find workarounds for everything that I need to do, but I think that it could be more efficient.
