To immediately update to the current beta enter the Update Now command. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it's scheduled to check for updates.

I had the same problem. Do a manual update to the latest release version (links on the website), then change to the beta update channel.

Please let me know if Mark's suggestion doesn't work. There was an updated that was required in the pre-launch beta testig to avoid this, but based on the version number you posted you missed that update.
