Double finger scroll no longer scrolls as expected
I have my app set to flip pages, so "scroll view" is unchecked. However, as I quite frequently highlight text, I need the scrolling function to realign the text so everything I am wanting to highlight is on the same page.
Up until very recently this worked flawlessly by swiping with two fingers up and down, which replicated the scrolling function. This for me was a brilliant combination and I used it almost daily.
Somehow after one of the more recent updates this has stop working. Now doing a double finger scroll, instead of a smooth sliding motion of the text scrolling up and down, it jumps all over the place, a few pages forward and a few back. It feels very erratic and "glitchy".
I am using Android app version 5.16.5 on an LG G4. I can also replicate the issue on my ASUS Transformer tablet.
A two finger salute to anyone who can fix this!

Just for narrowing down, no issue with ios 5.15.2. ios 5.17.0 also ok. So, must be Android side.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my Android mobile phone.

1. The issue is the same across resources.
2. I'm using only a single panel, no screen splitting.

Ok, well I checked this setting and saw panel syncing was set to "on", so I turned it off, and retested the two-finger swipe. Same results, jumps forward and backward instead of scrolling smoothly.

Hi chacojerald,
I'm sorry you're experiencing this behavior. We are aware of the issue and have an internal case written up for it to be fixed. Keep an eye out on the release notes as we update the app to see if we've fixed this issue.

November 24th. I'm still experiencing this on all Android devices. Any update on the progress of a fix?

I agree, this issue has not been resolved!

Just got the "biggest ever update". This issue is still present. Two-finger scrolling rapidly (and uncontrollably) moves by pages and not lines. Running Logos 6.0.1 on Pixel w/ Oreo 8.1.0.
Personally, my biggest issue is not highlighting, but re-reading immediate context. Sometimes I need to go back a couple of verses to re-read the thought - and to have it on the same page. However, with the new tabbed Logos using the page swipe motion to switch between tabs, I guess I will have to just modify how I use the app to read. Sigh. I have been assimilated.

Hi Chad, I'm sorry for the problem with scrolling. The current version of Logos is 6.0.3. Can you confirm you've got that installed (from home tap the button with three lines in the top-left) and click Help), and if you do please also make sure you have "scroll view" enabled from the View settings for the book in question? In the book tap the three dot menu in the top-right, and select "View Settings" at the bottom (you may have to scroll a bit to get to it).

It seems someone else has been able to replicate this behavior with newer versions of the application. We've got a case written up for it and are investigating. Thank you for reporting it!

I can confirm this issue is unchanged as of 6.0.3. To clarify, the double finger scroll is supposed to work exactly with the scroll feature disabled, not enabled. So the default mode is set to flip the page, with the option to scroll (using the double-finger vertical wipe) to make slight readjustments to the material seen on the page. This is what used to work and is now quirky. On a further note, the double-finger horizontal swipe to switch between tabs works flawlessly, a feature I find absolutely fantastic! Great job on the updated app! Thank you for your assurances this is being looked into.

Why is nothing being done to resolve this bug? This is not a new feature request, it once consistently worked!

Perhaps it is being worked on, but the problem just hasn't been solved yet.

I am now on 6.3.1, on a Google Pixel 2, Android version 8.1.0. The issue remains.

Annoyingly so.
I know some bugs can be hard to fix and others are just not high up on the priority list, but I would like to add my vote to escalate this specific one if possible.
Please, I really miss this functionality and I would never go back to the previous Android version and forfeit the great "tabs" feature .
Thanks

I will agree. It is not like it hasn't been like this for quite some time - and it used to work just fine. Doe anyone know if you can user voice fixing a bug instead of a feature request?

6.4.1 still not working

So here we are at version 8.0.1. First of all, let me say I was very excited to see the changes to the app which just keeps getting better! However, this issue remains frustratingly unchanged! I would expect it to be disabled or fixed, but alas, it still works in all of it´s useless quirkiness, jumping around all over the place as described originally in this post. Did I mention? This is a function that once worked smoothly but somehow got broken. This combined with the weird new dysfunctional text selection tool makes highlighting a real chore...

What irritates me (a little) is that it works just like it should on my iPad. It is only android that it is flaky.

Still nothing on this?
Come on Faithlife. This is a really annoying thing!

Still nothing. Please fix this. I have been waiting years for this to be corrected. Please please fix this - our just tell me you are not going to. I have a little hope with every update notification only to be disappointed again. I am literally irritated every day over this; there is not a single day that goes by where I use the app (almost every actual day) that the lack of the response in addressing this issue does not enter my mind.

Hi all,
We're working on addressing this. We're going to roll out a feature where highlighting across pages in paging-mode will turn the page. Most other reader apps do some version of this, and we'd like to move towards generally accepted UX patters like that.
We'd probably roll that solution out on iOS and may do away with the two-fingered scroll entirely on both platforms.
This approach would help us make the app easier and more intuitive for people to use, especially users who are new to Logos. I know that highlighting across pages in scrolling mode is important to many users-- and we should do a better job of supporting that.
I'm sorry it's taken so long for us to address this, especially for those of you who use this in your work flow. It's been lower on the priority list for us as we worked to deliver L8. We want to address the underlying problem, which is we don't really have a discoverable way to highlight across pages-- that's why we've delayed fixing the two-fingered scroll.

Thank you Daniel for taking the time to reply. I'm good for another 6 months or so [;)] before I forget that I am an adult and get impatient again. I appreciate the hard work you guys do to try to balance usability and features.
This feature (at least for me) has always been about being able to quickly check preceding context as I am reading - by scrolling up a couple of lines instead of a page back - so I can see the whole verse/passage without it being artificially broke up. I know that the way to make this happen is to simply turn on scrolling, but I find it difficult to read large amounts in this way (when I am turning the page, my eye goes to the correct place - when scrolling, I have to find my place again).
I would love it if you guys put it as a user voice item to see if it would really be worthwhile to keep in the app (assuming that it must be causing some issue on Android for it not to have been fixed in years) or if it was kept in the app regardless of it being intuitive (if it is a relatively simple fix) because it is a great feature that facilitates reading something where every word and its relationship to the surrounding words really matters.

My. Issue is more with the loss of continuity with highlights that extend over a page....previously if was relatively easy to make a highlight selection that spannned a number of pages. Not, it beaks up into pieces. Very very irritating given that this is one of the features I most love about Logos on iOS. PLEASE return it to its former functionality. Thanks!!
