In the meantime can you put on your thinking caps and tell me your favorite (a) introduction to each of the literatures listed below (b) instructions/comments on the use of the literature in Bible study. The list of literatures from Ancient Literature: Thanks everyone.

Does anyone know how Logos selects the pericopes to be shown when you enter a reference or pericope title into the Bible reference box?

For the apocrypha and pseudipigrapha, there are short introductions in OTP and academic dictionaries (Anchor, New Interpreter's, Dic of Judaism, DJG, DNTB, etc). For more detailed treatment, I like the Sheffield Guides to the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha and introductions to whatever commentary on these books I can get my hands on (in Anchor and Hermeneia).

Within the Bible resource itself, it matches only the pericopes in that version. (So if you type into the NRSV's reference box, you'll get different results from typing into the NIV's reference box.) The results will be listed in canonical order and limited to eight results.
In some other areas (e.g. the Passage Guide), the results come from across several Bibles. They seem to be consolidated from the versions you own, rather than using the data used in the Passage Analysis tool. It looks like there are two criteria for sorting. The second criteria is canonical order, but the first eludes me.
In other areas (e.g. the Passage Analysis Tool), again the results come from across several Bibles you own. But this time the sort order is strictly canonical, and it's limited to 10 results.
Outside of Bibles, typing in a Bible reference returns data from multiple versions, but the list is de-duplicated. So if two versions use different titles for the same pericope, you'll only get one title. I don't know how the title is chosen, but it's not based on your prioritisation. The NRSV seems to be #1 choice.
In every case, if you type a…
- …pericope title, you'll get a simple text match of the pericopes.
- …Bible reference, you'll get a match of all the pericopes that intersect that reference.

In Bible versions without pericope, or for PB Bibles, it seems to use your preferred version's pericope headings and presents ten at a time.

For the Apostolic Fathers and the Church Fathers, I like two books by James Stevenson:
They don't just talk about the texts, they get you into actually reading them.
This is slightly off topic, but I believe still related. I absolutely love The Greco-Roman World of the New Testament Era by Jeffers. Several years ago I bought a second dead-tree copy just so I could have a loaner to share with friends.
