Search in 8 vs 7
Dear community, I have installed Logos 8 and was using Logos 7 to date. I am puzzled by how search works. In the past days with Logos 7 I was able to type, let's say Esther 1 into the search box and was given all results across all my library: commentaries, dictionaries, etc, etc. I can no longer do it. How do I search something in Logos 8 so that I will be able to see all search results across all library resources?

I was initially confused as well. Watch the QuickStart videos on the new search functions. Hugely helpful.

I am watching the videos and it explains how to search, however I have not yet understood how to search something in a passage that is going to show all results in my library. Would you know?

Might it be related to the first search tab now being Bible instead of Basic?
When you perform a Basic search (all text, in all resources), that should show all results from your entire library:
You can also use the right-click context menu to search for a selection from a passage, across everything:

Oh, from the Go box? In Logos 8, it doesn't open the Passage layout by default, but that feature will be returning in a future update.
For now, you can select to open the Passage layout. Is that the view you were looking for?

You probably have a lot of resources in your library which can make the Passage Guide busy, so not everything is added. But you can add more.
Here is one way to get what you want:
First create a collection of dictionaries and encyclopedias.
1-2. Open a Passage Guide and Add a collection
3. Choose Settings
4. Select a collection of dictionaries or whatever you have created.

In Logos 7 you could enter a topic (e.g. God) into the GO box and get a layout with guides, bible and bible dictionaries.
In Logos 8 you have to type something like open topic to God to get a layout option
Click the first option under Layout to see your dictionaries and bible in a layout.
Once you've done that, you just change the last word in the GO box for a different topic.

I'd say it is a bug, or recession. The problem with the combined GO/Command box is that a word can no longer be treated as a topic, as per the GO Box in L7. open topic to... at least provides access to a Layout.

I've been fortunate in the upgrade to L8 in that I was NOT doing anything with Logos at the time of the upgrade other than a study in Genesis and viewing Mobile Ed, so I was utilizing very few Logos features at the time of the upgrade and have not been hindered much in my use of the software.
Having said that, I've felt very badly for some people who have discovered features they used and depended on every day in L7, were suddenly not working the same in L8 or perhaps not working at all. I've worked in IT and I very much appreciate the complexities of system upgrades. But that's why detailed and thorough regression testing combined with usability labs and client training and communications are so critical. I'll be fine with L8, but I'm really surprised at some of the L8 feature and process changes that are blind-siding people and in some cases having a very negative impact on their ability to use the software effectively.

Does it work if you try: open topic layout to God? I think the name got changed in the beta to make it more clear you are opening a layout.

Doesn't work for me quite yet in 8.1.0.0004:

But why? Layout is presented as an option. Albeit, that I've just discovered that the behaviour is erratic (in 8.0) e.g. it will open the guide in my layout, or go to the topic layout, or go to the guide in a tile by itself!

Oh, looks like I misremembered. https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_8.1_Beta_1 It was the Passage layout that was renamed to Passage Study.
I'm not sure why you aren't seeing results.

Aleksander, I tried this in my Starter version, but please see below where the query was started. Not from the Go box.

Aleksander,
Although I only have a Starter version please see below to see where I put the search. Is this what you are looking for?

One option is using Layouts to open Passage Study followed by changing reference to desired passage:

Milestone Search is useful for finding resources with Bible Indexing (e.g. Bibles, Commentaries & Study Bible Notes) that
Bible Reference Search finds references to passage
Note: Bible Book abbreviation can be used for Milestone and Bible Reference searches.
Phrase search is another reference search
Searches can be combined:
{Milestone <Es1>} OR <Es 1> OR "Esther 1"
