Logos iOS ver. 8.0.6

iOS: 12.1

PC: Logos 8 Silver, Win 8.1

When I open notes in Logos iOS that I created on my PC (Logos 8 Silver) they display the anchored Bible text and I cannot turn off that display. On the PC I can turn off the display of Anchor Bible text but not on Logos iOS on my iPad Pro. (PC "Show full Anchor text")

Can I do the same thing in Logos iOS? If so, I have not been able to find the command.

Thanks for any help you offer!

    Dear Graham,

I am trying to get to a point where I can teach my Sunday school class using my iPad and not my Mac. I want to build my lesson plans in Notes on my PC and teach the class using my iPad Pro. This is getting closer but it is not here yet.

Also, I have just finished teaching a workshop on the Logos iOS app where I introduced a number people to Logos on their iPads and phones. In that class I have (3) people who wants to teach their classes using Logos and their iPads. The limiter in their abilities is that they do not own a Logos package on their PCs. This means that they will have to do their lesson prep on the iPad OR they can install the free Logos 7 on their PCs. Then using Logos and MS Word build their teaching notes, place them on their Google Drive and on their iPads display Logos in the left window  and the Google Drive with the Word doc viewed in the right window. I have done this and it works fine. I just wish FaithLife focused more on teaching/preaching using the mobile app.

After the first of the year I will be meeting with these teachers to get them setup to teach from their iPad as described above. They do realize that they will need to purchase some more resources and I have given them a list of those that I use.

Thanks Graham, have a blessed day!

    Dear Don

Thanks for providing more context on what you are trying to do.

Havr you looked at the Sermon Writer in Logos- available from the Documents (Logos 7) or Docs menu (Logos 8)?

This allows you to create manuscripts on the desktop which are then synced to the mobile app.

It does require some Logos features to be purchased so might not work for your colleagues but is a good tool for teaching.

    Graham,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I did try the sermon editor a few weeks ago after I purchased the L8 Silver package so I would have the advanced features. So I created some teaching notes in a sermon files and it seemed to work fine. I even taught my next Sunday school lesson using the Sermon file on my iPad.

Then a few days later I got and email advising me that my sermon would be published on FaithLife in 2 days. Since I did not remember setting it up to do this and the fact that I did not want my private notes published I tried to turn off the share feature and i could not. So I deleted the sermon file so it would not share. My conclusion was, the Sermon editor would not be an option for me. I when back to notes on my Mac.

I have just created another sermon file with teaching note and this time I made SURE that the "Automatically publish ..." was NOT checked.

If this works then I will use the Sermon docs for teaching. I can have my Bible and the Sermon opened in a split window.

On the PC: I do wish I could disable the Slide creation for each header. I did notice that I can turn off the display of slides. I also discovered how to create colored text, great!

I do have one question: Will the sermon docs update on my iPad when I change it on the PC, as with Notes? That is not happening for me.

    Again, Thanks for the suggestion!

    Hi Don

Glad this approach might work for you.

And, yes, updating the sermon document on your PC should update the sermon document on your iPad, I’ve just checked and a sermon doc I updated on my pc today has been updated on my iPad

if it doesn’t in your system we will need to investigate and found out why.

    Hi Graham,

This morning the Sermon doc is syncing between my PC and the iOS app. Yesterday that was not working but now it is. "Oh Well".

This morning when I first opened the PC Logos I could not click into the Sermon doc to edit the text to test for syncing. With no type-in cursor visible, when I typed a character it was entered at the beginning of the doc. Very strange but understandable! After trying various things, clicking here and clicking there and getting no type-in point, I decided to see if I was able to click into my Note file and I was. Then I went back to the Sermon doc and now I was able to click into it and make changes. This has got to be one of the MANY bugs in the Logos software / app.

After doing all the above on the PC, the Sermon doc on the iOS app was updating without any problems. It would not yesterday.

You are a special person to take your time and help me and all the other people on this forum. I am assuming you are compensated by FaithLife, if not you should be!

Moving forward, I am going to start using the Sermon editor instead of the Notes feature for my teaching notes. I will still have to use the Mac for teaching because the iOS version of Logos will not display the "Outline" column that I need for locating my current teach location in my Sermon doc. I plan on having one doc for the complete study of Genesis divided up by chapters. Of course I may come up against a size limitation on the Sermon doc file but I will break up the Sermon doc if that happens.

    Again, Thanks for Your Help!
