BDAG has me wondering
I was studying John 14 and I came across εις and sought insight into its usage in this particular context and looked to my trusty resource BDAG hoping that it would provide an answer to my desire for insight. Much to my surprise Jn 14 was not highlighted but 1Pt 1.25 was. This was my first time ever seeing an alternate scripture used in this way in BDAG. Is this correct? Or have I found a typo or bug?
Would someone please enlighten me on this matter. I thank you in advance. Bless you, with every good thing for your patience and kindness towards me.

Is it possible that your other bible tab (ESV) is open to 1 Pt 1.25? That's the only way I can replicate your screen shot.

Good observation, but, this is not the case. I opened the ESV to see what 1Pt 1.25 said.

Suspect a Bible with Greek Morphological tagging has εἰς selected in 1P5.12 along with BDAG having visual filters for Emphasize Active Lemmas and Emphasize Active References enabled.
Also noticed BDAG lacking εἰς example usage in John 14 (while having example usage in other chapters of John)

Karl, my apologies you were absolutely correct I had my NLT open to 1Pt 1.25 and this was the source of the highlighting. I found this to be the case when I closed everything but my ESV and BDAG and checked for the behavior and found that I could not reproduce it. Thank you. Great work! And yes KS4J you too are on the money thank you. I didn't know that BDAG would pick up on texts that were not active.

Which made it the active reference to be emphasized in BDAG.
As Jn 14 is not referenced in BDAG (should it contain all 1600+ references for eis?), I would suggest you try Lexham Analytical Lexicon to the GNT and use the Louw-Nida domain to get an understanding of its meaning (LN 84.16).

Not to hijack this thread, but εἰς enjoys quite the semantic range. Honestly hope this doesn’t come off as self-promoting, but I did do some inductive research into εἰς earlier this year (posted on my blog below) - particularly as it relates to Acts 2.38. Interesting stuff.
