'system narrator' versus "David Cochran Heath"

I have a M'Cheyne reading plan set for daily reading.  I click on the card on the homepage, it takes me to today's reading.  I hit Control 'R' and Heath's voice starts reading.  When I finish the first of the four readings and click on the next reading, it goes to that reading but the 'system narrator' starts reading.

When I look on the ESV Bible information drop down 'Read aloud' is designated  'David Cochran Heath'.

So I work around by opening the ESV Audio Bible and click the chapter I want to hear.

This did not happen in Logos 7 so is this hiccup in Logos 8?

Thanks

I can neither confirm nor deny if this worked in L7. I seem to remember users saying that it did not work... In any case, I would suggest providing some more information so that others can try to reproduce. One thing to make sure to include: Are you in paged view or scrolling?

    Joe,

I just like to chip in to confirm that I run into similar issue as you, it is not a hard-on bug, I see it during by daily reading today.

    • I use ESV (default Logos scrolling view) - my Narrator is set to use - "David Cochran Heath"
    • Reading Book of Ephesians, my default macOS Voice was used instead (BUG)
    • To work around, I opened ESV Audio Bible, to read chapter 1 of Ephesians, once done, I go back to ESV Bible to do the usual "CMD R" (for Mac), it is reading Ephesians using "David Cochran Heath"

Hope Logos can recreate the issue and fix this bug.

Thanks for the response, I thought there was a glitch but couldn't find it in the forum.  I too use the work around you described.

    Blessings,

Observations for my daily reading some OT and some NT passages:

    • Yesterday, same thing happened to Colossians Reading, after the work around yesterday, todays Reading of Colossians is OK
    • So far OT seems OK

I had the same issue the other day. At first it would start out reading with Heath's voice and then when it moved to the next chapter it would switch to the system narrator. Then when I tried to start it over it just abandoned Heath altogether and would only use the system narrator.

This sounds like the same bug that has been reported in L8 before (can't find the thread) but the issue is when going to a new chapter while listening it will revert to system audio as well. Sounds like this is related.

I have been running into the same issue since the L8 upgrade. This has been reported, I just don't remember where, and didn't add to the post because it was already noted.

I have a 52 week ESV reading plan in which I listen and read along. It is strictly a Logos 8 issues (for me anyway), as it worked perfectly in L7. My workaround is to listen to the mp3 when Logos 8 acts up, but that is not a good long-term solution.

[:(] It will be nice if Logos acknowledge there are narrator related issues, and fix it when it is convenient.

They have acknowledged it, I just can't find the thread. It may have been during the Private Beta, I can't remember.

That is good [Y] I suppose they have more important and critical BUGs to fix first.

This should be fixed with an update to the ESVAUDIO resource that was shipped recently.
