Personal Book Logos 8 "width value: 0pt" Warning

Since I upgraded from Logos 7 to Logos 8 all my Personal Books in the build process gives me many of the warnings below. Using the same Word file in Logos 7 I did not get these warnings. The Personal Books built with no warnings in L7. BTW, the book builds ok in L8 but I get all the warnings.

[Warning] Failed to interpret width value: 0pt

If anyone can point me to the problem in my Word doc that Logos 8 does not like I would appreciate it. How can Word create a text character with ZERO width value? But then, maybe Logos is seeing something besides a character with a ZERO width.

Thanks, Don Walker <><

Try to compile a small part of your PB. If it comes up with the warning, then upload the docx to the forum

I think this could be caused by the use of tables in Word, but I don't recall any changes from L7 to L8. Normally, when the books work okay in Logos, the warnings may safely be ignored.

    My Fellow Users,

I do appreciate your comments very much. It is great to have people who are willing to help others in their pursuit of Biblical knowledge through Logos Bible Software.

I was selecting a small portion of the Word doc so I could build another PB to pinpoint the Word content that is causing the warnings when I noticed I had added a table to the docx file. So I took a screen shot of the table and built an image file of the table and inserted it into my docx file in place of the table. The PB created with ZERO warnings. GREAT!!

Thank you "NB.Mick" you hit nail right on the head.

I now know two things to look out for in the Word docx file when building Personal Books.

    • Do not have Tables. (Causes Warnings)
    • Do not format a blank line with a "Heading" style. (Causes the PB build to crash. I learned this in Logos 7.)

You guys are the greatest! [:D]

You don't have to delete tables.  If you are using Word to edit your documents all you have to do is configure the table with a "Preferred Width".

After setting a preferred width of a table you can alter the width by dragging the edges around as you wish.
And when you forget to set the width of a table and get the same warning/error the quick way I use to find each table to check it, is by searching from table to table using the Find,  Replace and GoTo tool in Word. Just keep pressing the next button and ignore the table number box. Don't handicap your PBs by not using tables.

    Thanks George & JohnB,

I have re-inserted the table per your instructions and now I do not get any "Warnings". You guys have given me some great tips!.

Do you have any ideal why the cell fill color is no longer present? When I got the warnings the cells retained their fill colors as in the Word file but not now. I would like to insert an image into this reply but I do not have an Internet folder to place the file.

    Thanks for your Help!!

    Hum

I have never had a need to insert colour previously so I just tried it. You are correct, the colour does not make it through to Logos whether as a cell fill or as a text highlighting - but it did not even make it though before putting the table width in for me.

Coloured text does appear to make it through however if that is of any use

George or someone else might have some productive thoughts.

Sorry to be the bringer of sad tidings.

    Thanks JohnB,

Just getting an editable table into a PB is a big advantage to advantage for me. The inserted picture had a vast disadvantage.

    Thanks for you help!
