LOGOS 7 NOTES

Hi everybody:

When I had Logos 7, I had note file that I had created for each book of the bible. For example, for the book of Exodus, I had a file called "Gleanings on Exodus', for the book of Matthew, "Gleanings on Matthew", etc, etc.

Since I had a note file for each book of the Bible, all I had to do was type on docs "Gleanings on Matthew" and it would come up. After that, I would go to my preferred Bible, right click on the word, phrase or verse (s) I wanted to add a  note to, and would automatically say on the section where it says "Add a note": "Add a note to "Gleanings of Matthew."

I understand that I should be looking on "My Notes" for this file instead of docs, but even when I pull "Gleanings on Matthew" out of "notes" and I try to add a note from the book of Matthew, it doesn't say, "Add a note in "Gleanings of Matthew", so, in that sense I don't know where my added note goes.

How then can I keep my note files in order and allowed them to be saved on each book of the bible?

Thanks for your needed help,

Joseph

Yes - Logos 7 Notes Documents have been converted to Logos 8 Notebooks and they are visible within the Notes Tool

but even when I pull "Gleanings on Matthew" out of "notes" and I try to add a note from the book of Matthew, it doesn't say, "Add a note in "Gleanings of Matthew", so, in that sense I don't know where my added note goes.

If you select your "Gleanings on Matthew" Notebook from the "Notebooks" filter in the Notes Tool it will become the currently selected Notebook

Now only notes in that Notebook will be displayed in the Notes Tool.

And if you add a note from your preferred Bible, the note will be placed into that Notebook - even though it doesn't specify this in the context menu.

How then can I keep my note files in order and allowed them to be saved on each book of the bible?

Hopefully my comments above will have answered this question - if not, please advise

But please be aware that in the new Notes Tool you can filter notes by books of the Bible by using one of the facets so it isn't strictly necessary to organise them manually in this way anymore. An option to consider moving forward.

To add to Graham's explanation, you can always see and change what notebook a note is in by looking at the drop-down menu right above the formatting icons. I look there when I start typing a note as kind of a "double-check" to make sure I am in the right place.

Thank you. I'm beginning to understand what you are saying, but I preferred the old way where I could pull my Study notes on Matthew through docs.

One last questions, my notes are coming up with an icon that it is not my preferred choice. How do I make "black star" as my default icon? Logos 7 allowed for that, but I can't see it on Logos 8.

The last one is that my default font used to be 12, but now is 11. This means that I have to change it to 12 every time I make a new note?

    No more questions.

Thanks once again for taking the time to respond,

    Joseph

    This is not currently available.

It is item 16 of the "Upcoming Features" list at https://www.logos.com/faq/notes

I don't think we can chance this at the moment.
