Filter panel in Library browser does not sort items

When I use the Filter panel in the Library browser, none of the items in the various limiting fields are in alphabetical order. The list of authors, collections, series, etc. are in random order, not alphabetical order. This makes it tedious to select an item from the list.

I find this feature particularly annoying with Collections.

In previous versions of Logos, when I selected something from the Library browser, I often would limit what is displayed by a Collection (e.g. Bible Dictionaries or Bible Commentaries). It was easy to do, because I found click on "In" and as I typed the drop down list would be limited to Collections that begin with these letters. Since the list of Collections was alphabetical, it was quick to find what I wanted. I don't see any way to do this in Logos 8.

I know I can use the Filter panel and select a Collection. But since the Collections are not in sorted order. I have to keep clicking More until the collection I want is displayed. This is time consuming because I have to scan through the list of Collections, which are in random order.

Am I missing something? Is there a quick way I can limit the list to a Collection?

Why does the Filter panel not alphabetize the lists of items?

They aren't actually random (they're sorted by number of hits), but many of us have been asking to have the behavior changed, or better yet give us the option to switch between the two sorts (as in Bible Browser).

click on the search icon next "Filter" and start typing the name of your collection (or any other facet value).

By the way, I'd like to suggest two improvements to the Filters find:

    1. Make the entire area from the search icon to the word "Filter" clickable.
    2. Support tabbing between the library find box and the filters find box (This would be the biggest improvement since one could stay on the keyboard all the time!).

+1 [Y] for option to switch between Alphabetical and # sort.

Yes I agree an option would be good. But in absence of this, I would rather just have alphabetical listings.

I am glad to see that there is a way to limit the filters by typing.

I did not see the search icon in the filters areas because it was a pale gray on white. I am probably not the only user to have difficulty with low contrast user interface features. Now that I know it is there, I see I can do pretty much what I did before.

The Systematic Theology Interactive has this option to sort by Count or Alphabetical. It is a good example of the type of interface I would like to see in the Library browser.

Hi any updates on this? Have I missed it ? please enlighten me ;) as I'd like to simply sort my Library → Type at root level alphabetically, in fact all sub directors as I drill down alphabetically please. There must be a toggle for this somewhere??

    TIA

    @Mark Bell

You have responded to an issue from 2018…
The Library can be sorted in a number of ways (click on the link). If there is still a question, then respond in the English Forum with a Tag of Desktop App.
