Bug: Resource text jumping/stuttering
All resources that I read on iOS mobile app jump or stutter while reading. It’s incredibly disstracting and although the text only moves slightly it’s easy to lose your place. Both downloaded and online resources show the same behavior.
IOS 12
iPhone 7 Plus

No, with no other resources open or linked the stuttering will occur. It is a simple movement of the text to where the spot my eyes were reading is no longer the correct point in the text.

I have not seen this behavior since last nights IOS update. Hopefully it does not return.

I am finding this happening too. Has a fix been identified?

It seems to be caused somewhat by the auto-hiding of the menubar.

I wonder if a hamburger menu that would bring up menus might be better?

It seems to be fixed with the latest update.

I have not seen this on my phone again but after purchasing a new iPad Pro 11 the problem is quite noticeable.

I am experiencing the same problem. Some of my text will even be missing, but soon as I scroll it a little, it comes back.

Am I the only one still experiencing this? iOS 12 on iPad Pro 12.9

No, I still have it very bad. Faithlife got back to me and said no timeline to fix this issue.

I still see it

DITTO! I hope I don't teach the wrong thing since I cant read in continuity on this app lol. Feel almost schizophrenic reading this. Devil app with its own mind.

I have the same problem, in fact Sunday while preaching I was scrolling the text and it jump and I lost several lines of the text. I switch quickly to another app that I have ready if something goes wrong.

Another iOS Logos update and the problems persist. I would think smooth and consistent scrolling of the text should be priority #1 in an app designed primarily for reading. I would love to hear an update on fixing this issue.

Does this happen on android as well? Do we need to start another bug report for this new version.

I don’t know about android. Still a bad problem on iPad.

Its driving me crazy. I’m sick so i need the portable iPad and really heavily using this, i just wish they would focus on getting it working well than adding new features. We pay so much for the base app, I would still be willing to pay another 5 bucks if its let them hire an great apple coder to get this thing in gear. It got so much worse with the FL stuff. Ugh. And the web app just isnt up to snuff on the iPad, and useless in some of the places i go that doesn’t have WiFi. They are still out there! Not that the mobile app does much better without WiFi. Passage and Exe guide useless. Search blah. Word search blah.

Try deleting the resource And redownloading it.
You may have to do this for all your downloaded recourses.
I don’t know that this resolved my issue but that is when my issue stopped.

i Understand your frustratio. Text disappear, will not highlight or cant select text. I’ve reloaded this program so many times my trying finger hurts.

Ahhhhh! This has been an issue for like 8 years. Seriously, this is the only app i use that does this. Steal one of the programmers from olive tree.

I noticed that it stops jumping when you change your default Bible. It happens again when you switch workspaces by touching the workspace icon (it doesn’t happen when sliding over to the next one). It doesn’t happen on my iPhone but does happen on my iPad Pro 11”.

Justin, I am sorry to hear you have been having this problem.
We are working on fixing this problem. In the meantime, you may be able to work around it by turning off Scrolling View:
- Open the app.
- Open a resource then tap on the screen to show the top/bottom controls.
- Tap on the three-dot ("kebab") icon at the top right.
- Choose "View Settings" then disable the "Scrolling View" option.

Hi Justin. There are other benefits to turning off scrolling on mobile devices. Selecting and highlighting is much, much, easier. With scrolling on when you want to select text, the page tends to scroll, rather than the pointer moving down on the area you are trying to select.

Thank you for the response and suggestion. The jumping actually happens with scrolling view off. I did also check with scrolling view on, and the behavior is the same. I don’t remember it happening on my iPad 2017 so I’m not sure if it’s related to the aspect ratio of the new iPad Pro.
It happens when the menu appears and hides. If I touch the screen to make the menu (top and bottom bars) hide, the text jumps up a line. When I touch the screen again to show the menu, it jumps back down a line. It scrolls fine otherwise.

I have always struggled with the usability of the iOS apps. I guess it is not easy to make them really easy to use given the small screen sizes. I use the iOS apps mainly for reading, but not for studying.

Just chiming in to say that I have the same issue as Justin. It's been a problem for a couple years I believe. I think since the last major revision to the mobile app but I can't pinpoint an exact time.

I’m also experiencing this problem and have for a few years. I’ve tried reinstalling the app, re-downloading all my resources, and other items. The problem continues. As I scroll, the text will jump to another section. This is not something I experience in other apps.
Likely unrelated, I also experience the challenge where text fails to highlight. I’ll drag my finger across it but it won’t appear. Eventually, I’ll force quit the app and reopen. It then will highlight as expected. Sometimes the failed highlight will be present; other times it will not.
Finally, I also sometimes get a few screens through reading to find I can’t scroll any further. Sometimes, scrolling back and, then, forward will will result in a blank screen (also switching to another app will sometimes do the same). Force quitting the app and re-opening the app will correct the problem. This happens with downloaded resources. Again, I’ve tried reinstalling the app and redownloading resources to correct it without success.
These problems can happen multiple times in a day or be absent for a few days.
All of this is on an 2018 iPad Pro 11 with plenty of free storage.
I appreciate the app, but it would increase efficiency if these problems were solved...
