Discovered solution to slow opening of Logos
I just discovered that using the control key on my desktop speeds up the loading of Logos. I moved from nearly 2 minutes to about 15 seconds. One of the Logos techs helped me discover this when I needed help getting Logos 8 installed. As I recall, he told me to hold down the control key on my desktop to let the installation process continue. It did so and rapidly. All I had to do was select the correct layout I was using when Logos 7 was last shut down. Now I can hold down the control key when opening Logos 8 and it opens rapidly even though I have only a Win 10 Intel core 2 duo w/ 6GB ram.
It is working for me! Try it! I bet you will like it. :-)

2 minutes with a layout to 15s for a blank window?
Many of us load a layout/homepage, so our overall elapsed time will be much less than doing as you suggest. What are your Startup options in Program Settings?

If you select a named layout, it will not reflect the state when L7 was shut down, unless you selected the latest Application Closed and renamed it.
Perhaps some logs of a normal startup with layout would help diagnose the issue.

Thanks for your feedback Dave. I have noted your many useful inputs for forum users. Your knowledge & experience far surpass mine. I was just celebrating the discovery of opening Logos in less than 2 minutes. (Intel Core 2 Due machine w/ only 6GB Ram - slow by today's standards) BTW, I did rename a layout and after using the cntrl opening and selecting the latest application closed I am up and running on my very slow machine in about 15 secs. To me that is a wonderful change. :-) Thanks again for your input.

And I don't want to diminish your joy. I wonder how long it takes without the CTRL key, but first do this:-
- Open Program Settings, find At Startup Open to and select Most recent layout - local
- In the Command Box at the top of the Logos Window (with green GO in Logos 8), type Set Use Ngen to Yes and hit Enter.
Restart Logos normally a couple of times after this, and report the result.
