Preferred Bible Error
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I am reposting this from the "old" mobile forum, as I now realize I should have posted this here.
A few days ago, my iPhone X and Amazon Fire HD8 tablet started showing New Testament verse links within resources in the "Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology" translation, rather than the ESV translation that I originally had selected as my preferred Bible.
I went into the settings menu on both devices and re-selected the ESV as my preferred Bible, but I still get the Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) translation when I use New Testament verse links within resources (Old Testament links show correctly in the ESV translation). The same thing happens if I try to select other translations other than the ESV as my preferred Bible, they all "reset" to the Elzevir Textus Receptus. I deleted and reinstalled the Logos app on both mobile devices, but still have the same preferred Bible error.
I am using Logos 7 on my PC, and have mobile version 8.0.8 installed on my iPhone X and Amazon Fire HD8 tablet. The preferred Bible error is not occurring on my desktop version of Logos 7.
I checked my prioritize list (I am familiar with prioritizing resources), and discovered the following:
- There is a discrepancy in total resources between my mobile app (1,692) and desktop (1,705).
- The resource that keeps opening (instead of my ESV preferred bible) for all New Testament links in my mobile app (Elzevir Textus Receptus, 1624, with Morphology) does not appear in my desktop resource library. So I have no way to know how it is prioritized.
- Several resources appear multiple times in my priority list in a strange order (ESV, NKJV, NIV, ESV, ESV, ESV, ESV, NKJV, NIV, NKJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, ESV, etc). I removed the duplicate entries from the list and re-synched, but after using the desktop and mobile apps, there are again multiple entries of the same resources in the prioritize list - not sure why that would be happening?
The preferred Bible error began recently, and I have not changed any settings that I am aware of. Regardless of how may times I switch the mobile preferred Bible setting back to the ESV, within minutes the default returns to the Elzevir Textus Receptus, (1624) with Morphology.
Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Scott

A difference in count is annoying, but expected. There are many reasons for this, including "free to use but not own" resources on mobile (increasing mobile count) and resources unavailable on mobile (including personal books).

This may be one of the "free to use but not own" resources.

No idea. You can legitimately have multiple repeat items in your prioritization list if you are using "advanced prioritization" (You may, for example, want a certain translation for certain books of the bible, but a different one for others).
I doubt this is the case, but is there any chance someone else is using your account? If so, you might want to change your password to lock them out.
Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
You may need to contact FL directly (preferably by phone).

I still get the Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) translation when I use New Testament verse links within resources (Old Testament links show correctly in the ESV translation).
I can shed light on the latter part of this. The resource in question is the Greek text, so it would be NT only.

started showing New Testament verse links within resources in the "Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology" translation, rather than the ESV translation that I originally had selected as my preferred Bible.
Can you be explicit about which "links" you are trying to open? This might shed some light on the matter.

J.T., thank you for your response - good to know about the difference in resources count between the desktop and mobile app. And it appears the "Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology" is indeed a free to use but not own resource.
I contacted Logos support, and once the mobile team is back in the office from vacation next week, they will reach out to me per the nice customer service reps I spoke to.
I will try to answer your specific questions (let me know if you need more info):
- No one else has access to my account, but I do use it from multiple devices (desktop, laptop, iPhone, and Amazon Fire HD8 tablet. I only use one devise at a time when accessing my Logos software and library.
- This issue began a few days ago, everything worked perfectly until then.
Below is a screenshot of my prioritized resources you asked about. I previously removed duplicate entries, but once I use the software they reappear - wonder if this is because I am trying repeatedly to make the ESV my preferred bible in the mobile app?

JT, thank you for your response. I contacted Faithlife support, and the customer service reps told me once the Logos mobile app team returns from the holiday break someone will contact me.
Thank you for the explanation about the difference in resources count between Logos desktop and the mobile app - that makes sense. I suspect you are correct that the Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology may be a "free to use" resource within the mobile app.
I will try to answer the questions you asked:
- No one else has access to my account
- See the below screenshot for repeating entries in my Logos 7 priority list. Even after I remove duplicate entries and re-synch, once I use the software again, the duplicate entries reappear.

See below for screenshot of link to Bible verses within resources. Though I set my preferred Bible to the ESV translation, the above referenced Greek Textus Receptus appears. I can’t get any other translation set as my preferred Bible. Each time I try, it reverts back to the “Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology.”

Which specific version of the software engine are you running? Which specific OS?
Have you tried deleting all of the prioritization and restarting in offline mode? Wondering if the issue is "in the cloud" or in the software locally. Do you have more than one computer?

Don't be afraid to call again and/or "bump" this thread early in the new year.

Hi JT. I am running desktop version 7.19 and mobile version 8.0.8. I have more than one computer (Windows 7 and Windows 10 systems), but I only use one at a time, and the software appears to run correctly on the PCs. The problem is with the mobile app.
In offline mode (airplane mode on my iPhone and Amazon Fire tablet) I can sometimes change preferred Bibles (not always), but once I connect to the internet the preferred Bible defaults back to “Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology.”
Since there were lots of duplicates in my PC prioritized list, I removed all resources from the list, then put them back in (eliminating the duplicates). I then attempted to change the preferred Bible on my tablet from the “Elzevir Textus Receptus (1624) with Morphology” to the ESV or NKJV without success.
When I then reviewed the prioritized resources on my PC, multiple duplicates for the ESV and NKJV were back in the list, so it appears attempting to change the preferred Bible setting (without success) on my iPhone X and Amazon Fire HD8 tablet are creating the duplicates in my priority resources list?
I am at a loss as to how to correct this, or what could have caused it since things worked correctly until recently. Hopefully the Logos/Faithlife support team can help solve the issue...

Hi Scott
This reminds me of a problem I saw a long time ago.
The way it was resolved then was setting five Bibles as preferred in the mobile app, one after the other. With your #5 Bible first, then #4 etc.
It may be worth trying here,
Graham
