Workflow Issue: Text Comparison for Deuterocanonical Texts

I was playing around with the Inductive Bible Study Workflow and noticed that when I click on the "Compare Bible versions" link in step 1.2, it opens a pre-selected set of bibles. They are not my Top Five bibles, although a few of my Top Five are coincidentally included. So no matter what bibles you've been using in the text comparison tool previous to using a Workflow, clicking the "Compare Bible versions" link in step 1.2 will always open the LEB, ESV, NIV, NLT, and AV 1873. If one of these is your preferred bible, it will move that one to the front/top. If you have a different preferred bible (e.g. the NRSV for me), that one will be added to the front/top along with the other five.

That in and of itself is not the problem. The problem is when you're studying a deuterocanonical text (ex. Baruch 5:1-9, which was an Advent text so that one came to mind). Clicking the "Compare Bible versions" link still opens the same pre-selected set of bibles, only one of which aside from my preferred bible (NRSV) contains Baruch (the AV 1873). So I conducted an experiment to see if the Text Comparison tool would pre-select a bible with the Apocrypha as the top resource when my preferred bible was set to the NIV. Alas, no. I got an error, even though the Workflow itself automatically pulls in the NRSV in step 1.1. See the screen shot below.

I love the fact that the Workflow tool pulls in 5 (or 6) translations with different translation methodologies automatically instead of just opening the text comparison tool to whatever you were looking at last. In theory this saves time...unless you're studying a passage that's not in the pre-selected set of bibles.

Can the tool be updated to dynamically open the text comparison tool with bibles that contain the text you're studying when you click “Compare Bible versions?”

This normally wouldn't be a problem for me since my preferred bible is usually set to the NRSV (for this very reason, it has all the passages/books I could ever want to study). But if for some reason I have changed my preferred bible (say to the NIV or ESV, which I do from time to time), or if someone else who has a different preferred bible was studying an apocryphal text (maybe for historical background or for seminary or something), the text comparison tool won't display that passage because the bibles in the pre-selected set do not contain the Apocrypha.

    Logos 8.2 beta 1 has:

    • Workflow Editor
      • Added support for all guide sections available for each key type.
      • Added support for a new Theological Topic type.
      • Added support for more control over which translations are used in a Text Comparison intent.

I haven’t checked if this addresses what you are requesting

I wonder if the third bullet means you can set which ones you want in the Workflow tool itself. Or maybe a toggle setting to chose between either dynamic selection, top five, or some other preset selection that the users chooses. Also, is this only for the workflow editor and not for the pre-designed workflows included in the software?

I like the fact that it picks bibles with different translation methodologies and I feel like that is good encouragement and education to the user, especially if they're new to bible study. It would be cool if they could somehow keep that ideal but make the tool more dynamic in its selection. I'm not a beta user so I will patiently await the stable version of 8.2.
