Offline Mode Problems
I have had this happen twice and have read other posts but don't see any that match this exactly.
I downloaded several books in offline mode and accessed them while online (I saw that was a known bug). Twice now, I have gone in to offline mode, and none of the books are available.
It took me quite a while to download my books, so I would love to know a workaround for this or if there is something I am missing.
Thanks.

Jeff,
Two questions:
1) Does the airplane icon show up after downloading the book?
2) Are you signed-in when you download the books, and are you signed in when you are off-line?

I have experienced the same problem as Geoff. I downloaded my preferred Bible version and a couple of books and saw the airplane symbol showing that they were downloaded. I then stayed at a place that had no internet or phone coverage and my offline books were not available.
I have subsequently had to download them again.

Douglas,
Are you signed in when you download and when you're offline? If you aren't signed in, you will not be able to access the books.
If you are signed in, both at the time of downloading and while you're offline, then I don't know what the problem is.

1) Yes.
2) Yes. I was on my Wi-Fi network and signed in. The downloads completed. The airplane icon showed. I was able to access all the books both while signed in and when offline. However, today I was in an area with no service (3G or Wi-Fi). All the books were gone. And, when I signed in none of the books had the ariplane logo anymore. This is the second time this has happened.

This has happened to me as well. I can't figure out the pattern, but I've found myself without wifi and without books that had successfully downloaded and which I had used for offline use.
The last time it happened I had traveled from within a wifi zone to outside a wife zone with the app loaded. Then when I left the app and went back in the book was no longer available for offline reading. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, though.

Are you signing out from the Settings view? Signing out removes any downloaded books. You can also try putting the phone in airplane mode before starting the app. The app doesn't handle the "occasionally connect" scenario as well as it could, particularly the Library view. If the app starts when you have an Internet connection and then you lose it or starts without a connection and then you gain it, the Library view may not update correctly.

Dave, is this a limitation of the iPhone OS or just something you have not addressed yet?
If it is the latter, let me humbly request that it be something to look at soon if possible. I know you are very busy right now with the iPad coming.

Dave, when I have lost books I can guarantee you that I did not manually sign out of the account.

For those of you that have lost downloaded books, is your device near full?

No. I am about 30% full.

No one seems to have had my experience. Using iPod Touch, if I'm signed in (app not open) and I don't have wifi access, the app will start but then (abends?) it goes away - left me on the icon page. If I specifically turn OFF wifi, the I get an Offline Mode message and can get back to my offline Bible reading.

Dave, my device is near full but not quite. I had a few hundred MB available.
