Scrolling Issues on Ipad and Iphone

Am I the only one to still have issues reading a book on either of my mobile devices?  This has been an ongoing issue for me since the last major app update.  What happens is that when I bring up a book to read and I scroll through, the book will stop at a point and I can not go any further.  I will close the app and restart it and the problem is resolved until another random point in time.  This happens with Bibles, books, journals, etc...  It is frustrating if I use either of my mobile devices at a Bible study or whatever and I have to stop the app and restart it. 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I don't see that behaviour.

    What I do see is that if I am scrolling through a book quickly (in scrolling mode) it will stop as though it has reached the end and then continue. It is as though the app is reading the resource in chunks and having to go back and refresh. This is with resources even when they are downloaded to the device.

    When you find it stops do you have an online connection, are the resources downloaded or are you accessing them from the cloud?

    Hi Graham,

    I have the resources downloaded to both my phone and tablet.  I try to continue scrolling and this is a screen shot of it happening again.  I try to scroll up but the bottom of the screen is blank and will not continue.  This is the 2nd time in the last 20 minutes that I needed to stop the app, restart it, and then continue on.  I hope this helps you in understanding what has been an issue for me for quite a while.  Thanks again.

    Graham,

    Once again, within 5 minutes my open resource hung up and here is the pic of the text being chopped where I cannot scroll any further.  I hope the screen shots from my phone communicate what is happening.  This issue has been persistent and makes reading books still doable but also frustrating.  Thanks again for any input.

    I have seen this happen, but from my experience is only a problem in scrolling mode. Are you willing to try paged view? 

    How old is the installation? When you set up the device, did you migrate, or start from a "blank slate?" 

    Which specific version of iOS?

    Hey J.T.  I don't normally use the paged view but I do remember having the issue there as well.  I am using the latest IOS, 12.1.2.  I have had the Logos app installed on my phone since I've had the phone, close to 2 years.  I then downloaded most of my 2900 resources onto my phone and tablet.  This issue started when the Logos 8 app first came out.  I thought my issues were the same that had been seen here on the forum but discussion has died down.  I have not tried deleting Logos from my mobile devices and reinstalling them.  That would not be a big deal, just a little time consuming.  I do find it odd in that if this were a common issue then I would have seen more postings about it.

    Have you tried remove the book from your device and then downloading it again?

    Kevin,  I will try that when I get home.  Because I have had issues with many resources, I will just delete the app and reinstall it.  I was wondering if others were having similar issues.  Thanks.  Don

    I have had the Logos app installed on my phone since I've had the phone, close to 2 years.  I then downloaded most of my 2900 resources onto my phone and tablet.

    My new hypothesis: Your installation has become corrupted. The mobile app isn't designed to have that many downloads, although FL does permit it. You would be best advised to stick with no more than 100 resources.

    I have had this problem as well. 

    Graham mentioned that he sees it, but it will load after a little bit. Is that you experience, or not? Downloaded resources or not? Also, how many downloaded resources do you have?

    Hey JT.  I haven't heard of any limitations on how many resources before.  Is this information on the Logos website?  Also with 2930 resources on each of my mobile devices, it will be quicker to delete the app and reinstall it, then add a limited amount of resources.  I really enjoy having all of them on the device so when I travel I can scroll through my library and read what I want rather than ensuring I have the desired resource available beforehand.  I also wish that I could delete resources in large groups the same way you can install them by searching on a particular keyword.  I have no desire to do that many one by one.  Thanks for the suggestion.

    Hey Ben.  Do you have a large amount of resources on your device as well?  Sometimes I can use it for a while and sometimes every 5 minutes I need to restart.  Curious.

    No. Originally there was not a means for "download all," but upon many requests, it was secretly added (you have to scroll up to find the button). Trust me: FL employees warn the same. The app is not intended to be a replacement for the desktop app and many features are "online only." 

    I also wish that I could delete resources in large groups the same way you can install them by searching on a particular keyword.  I have no desire to do that many one by one.

    I'm not sure why you are asking about mass deletions, but if it is because of what I wrote above, it wouldn't work. I believe your installation has become corrupted. Often the best fix for many problems is a fresh installation (another reason to be judicious in downloads).

    Don, could you confirm that the downloaded resource you are seeing this with is showing as downloaded both in the library catalog and in the resource "kebab"? By that, it has the filled in info circle in both places - in the library view, and when you are in the resource and tap the kebab.

    I can confirm this bug too. Yes with fully downloaded resources.

    I used to see this regularly when I was beta testing a couple years ago.

    I knew it! I just knew it. A secret conspiracy (caball maybe?) to design the app to be stable like other apps. And thereby prevent the exciting and fun advice to constantly kill the app and re-install. "Maybe try re-installing."

    I REALLY hate to point out my multi-gig Accordance that's never stumbled. It's on a Mini-1, and I've had a Mini-4 for 6 months now with almost nothing on it ... oh wait ... the (secret) Logos app with 1 resource (plus an old Noet of course). I just haven't had the heart to "maybe re-install" Accordance (and OliveTree and Laridian).

    Hey Todd,

    I can confirm that the resources are showing as downloaded in both places.  I have reinstalled the app on my phone and after I have ample opportunity to check things out, I will let you know how things go.  I have been a Logos/Libronix user since the mid 90's I think.  Thanks for your suggestions.

    I deleted the Logos app and reinstalled it with the bulk of my library as well.  As of yet I have not encountered any of the freezing issues as mentioned in this thread.  For the few others who have been experiencing this same issue, I want to let you know that my issue seems to be resolved with a clean installation of the app.  Kind of weird because everything else appeared to function normally.  Thanks to all for offering suggestions.

    I did this and it was fixed for about 3 days... back to glitches. True on both iphone and ipad. No glitches with page turns though.

  • You're not alone. Ever since I upgraded to Logos 8 I've had issues where I swipe to turn a page in a bible and the same page appears or I tap to change chapter and verse and the new location shows in the bar but it didn't go to there. It was happening with Faithlife ebooks too (page change issue) but now not so much. I'm using an iPad mini 2nd generation. I did the recommended reinstall with no apparent success. No issues on the PC. Back to reading my bible on paper for now.
