so.. from here  its "Open Notes"
click on the Library looking icon
    click the + plus
    name your notebook..

too many steps IMO for what should be a simple task.. even if you go via Tools and Notes

I didn't change the behavior, just the messenger. The Logos 8 Notes is a tool on the Tools Menu.

We'll be adding Notebooks to the Docs menu in the near future.

FWIW, it's the same number of steps either way.

    The current way:

    1. Click on Tools.
    2. Click on Notes.
    3. Click on the Notebooks sidebar icon.
    4. Click the plus button.
    5. Name your notebook.

After we added Notebook to the Docs menu:

    1. Click on Docs.
    2. Click on New.
    3. Click on Notebook.
    4. Click on Untitled Notebook.
    5. Name your notebook.

    hi Phil

***is there any way of RAISING the PRIORTIY level on having the notebook TITLE show up in the windows tab,*** -?

as it is a real nuisance if working with 20-30 notes files open, ( adding notes to any of each ) knowing which one is where... the notes tool can have multiple instances open...which is good, but currently the trade off for a note file power user is not knowing which one is where, especially when using NOTEBOOKS as OPEN RESOURCES TO READ, and text edit.....

( note files in LOGOS 7 are not just for making post-it notes- but are RESOURCES in their own right - ( I had this dialogue with Dan about 7 years ago before the split screen was restored) and not a replacement for PBs because NOTE FILES can be edited in real time on an ongoing basis...

Maybe, using NOTEBOOKS as quite large  independent resources in their own right for reading, and amending content has sometimes been overlooked by logos?

    Best wishes

    hi Phil

    also

can the issues of ***sending a note to  selected note file  DIRECTLY from the Context menu be put on the agenda as urgent***

if there is still no option to specifically select the NOTEBOOK into  which to put the next note, from the context menu, then it is awkward to have to locate and tag each note after creation ( having many notebooks open) to put it where it needs to be...in logos 7 the NOTE FILE could be sent directly to a titled notebook, sending for examples notes to any of four open notebooks at quite a speed while speed reading through several texts at the same time...

    best wishes

    Michael,

If you have a particular Notebook selected in the Notebook Tab (not the facet tab) and you add a Note it should be going to the selected Notebook. This was changed in 8.2.

    Hi Philana

If you have a particular Notebook selected in the Notebook Tab (not the facet tab) and you add a Note it should be going to the selected Notebook. This was changed in 8.2.

Just for some context on this - Michael has been exploring this in a number of different threads and he is specifically looking for the ability to choose a particular notebook from the context menu. The process he has developed over a number of years involved (under Logos 7) having multiple notebooks open and being able to select a destination one from the context menu.

He is looking for a similar capability when using the new Notes Tool.

    hi Graham, hi Philana

yes I'm missing loss of funtionality from Logos 7 notes. Although the new Notes tool has many advantages, there is so much missing. The ability toi work at speed with a number of different notes files open, and to choose send a newly created note directly to any of three or four open note files without any further tagging or renaming or key clicks is just one loss of fiunctionality that ruins an effective accademic workflow working at speed within logos, using named NOTE FILES as seperate independant resources in their own right, to read and develop. For example when reading a text book I used to have 5 ( to-30) note files open, for each of many types of study, topic or approach, building a series of different resources for later use. I'm quite convinced no one at LOGOS yet appreciates how the former NOTE FILES could be used as seperate named resources in this way, bcuase if  they had have done the funtionality would not have been lost. I'm sure and very surprised.... they did not realise how powerful the Logos 7 notes files coudl be, and how they could be used..( a great many other logos users also!...).. and therefore might still not be fully aware how the loss of functionality is impacting some users,

    thanks for the replies.

hopefully someone at logos is reading this! I will happily explain more directly to logos or chat over the phone if it woudl help...

    best wishes
