Logos 8.2 - Still no "From your library" cards for home page

This was a great feature in the past.  Honestly, I never new it would be lost in my "upgrade" to v8.

Logos team - Are their plans to bring this back?  Honestly, the home page limitations make it more a logos sales tool than a custom tailored home page with links to various (and random) books in my library.

Thanks,

You could always use the letters FSD in the command box to do something similar, although it won't have the preview it once had on the home page, it does the same thing.

Thanks.  Tried that before.  It is a poor substitute.  This is a feature that should not have been removed.

I agree, I liked it too. Unfortunately, as of now, that is the closest you can get.

David, Keith- We’re exploring ways to show selections from resources on the Home Page in the future.

Hopefully not too far in the future.  If it functioned just like before, that would be great (hint hint) :)

    Thanks!

What excerpts from your library on the home page were useful ?

Personally liked Biblical images and illustrations (with preference for color images).

Thread => Home Page of Logos 8 includes fsd command example plus questions from Faithlife about "From your Library"

Dream with me a little bit here. We removed excerpts because we did hear from many users that our content seemed random and unhelpful to them.

What if we brought it back... but smarter.

One thing we'd like to explore is introducing excerpts of content that are bubbled up by things like "commonly cited", "most highlighted", popular topics, commonly used media or Popular Canvases and Workflows.

What kinds of content would you like to see? How would you like us to organize it? When did you find yourself looking for content to read and in what contexts?

Also, some other random Qs for you: did you fire up the app with the sole purpose of reading excerpts-- or did you just come across it while doing Bible study?

To be honest, I liked it the way it was.  I don't need any new bells and whistles...  just what I had.

I do agree with you that the occasional image and color photos was a nice thing.  Kind of like a newspaper built from my resources - some of which I might not have even opened.

Did I fire up logos just to see excerpts?  Not necessarily, but inevitably, I would find myself perusing and finding wonderful information, facts, tidbits.  It was an excellent addition to the home page making it something that was fresh each time I opened Logos.  Its absence is now a nagging disappointment each time I launch Logos.

Facelifts and modernization is one thing, removing functionality is another.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks, Joe. I appreciated seeing the excerpts.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Simple idea for Home Page excerpts "from your library" is a setting for All Resources (default) that could be changed to a collection: e.g. Bible Background

Implementation thought for Home Page is using fsd command to populate a number of cards. The fsd command allows a collection to be specified.

You seem to be confusing "from your library" and "excerpts".

"from your library" is an overview or "About" for a random resource.

"excerpt" is a quote from a random resource. FSD most closely resembles an excerpt. The FL queries related to "excerpts", not "From your library".

The OP may have been confused in stating  "from your library" (David?)

Seeing excerpts from my library, media samples, and overviews of library resources and the occasional academic blog article were the only reason I paid attention to the home screen in L7. Please, Faithlife, consider bringing this stuff back soon!

That and the Bible reading plan with all its capabilities.  Alas, it has gone up the flume too!  But, little by achingly-slow little some goodies are trickling back.

The use of the word "exploring" indicates that it will probably be a while, unfortunately. I think they're trying to figure out a way to make it "better." Now they could just add back the old functionality until they have figured out how they want to enhance it...

Like others have said, I miss not only the excerpts and previews of resources, but also the media. I liked opening my homepage and seeing infographics, photos of biblical sites, and images of Christian art, saints, etc. Sometimes I would click on tiles to learn more. Hopefully they could at least give us back the media and images fairly easily. It would make the home page more interesting and less boring.

Like so many others I really, really, really miss this feature. I would always look right through the homepage when I opened Logos. Often I would come across a Book I had forgotten I own. Other times i would come across an excerpt from a book which I had not intended reading and then find it was more useful and interesting than I thought it would be.

i don’t mind the Logos ads, I will often purchase the odd book or two through them. However, at the moment it is almost all ads and puts me off of looking - which really defeats the object.

Bring back the feature - as it was - please Logos.

I agree with you and everyone else in this thread. it was THE FIRST thing I noticed that was different. I always looked forward to 'random' exerts from my library when I opened logos because it would remind me of resources I had forgotten about or neglected and it was always good information. please bring this back.
