highlighting or taking notes causes app to crash
When I am reading Logos books while offline (places with no WiFi), if I try to highlight some text or take a note, the app crashes after a few seconds and the highlight/note is lost.
Is this anyone else's experience? Is there a known workaround for offline working?
(platform: iPad, latest iOS 12.1.1)

Yes! It happened to me today. I was using the newest ipad and was trying to change the highlight from yellow to an orange pen highlighter. Every time I choose it, the app closes and I must restart. It saves the orange highlighter selction as a note with nothing in it. Yep.....same thing

I have applied the update to 12.1.3 and it still occurs.

My install was a clean one. It is on the newest generation iPad 12.9 inch. I have all of my resources downloaded.

All of my resources except for a few that it did not pick up for some reason her downloaded. So this happened on a downloaded resource. Again, for me it happened while trying to change highlight colors. It highlights fine if I leave it on the default yellow but if I try to change colors it will throw me out of the program.

I have all of my resources downloaded.
How many is that? It is not recommended to download large portions of one's library (unless it is a small library).
I never understood this. If you have a large phone or tablet why would it matter how much you download?

Alabama often makes this point due to hard won experience.
Both iOS and Android operating systems are relatively new technology and are being renewed all the time. Logos apps are moving targets as they introduce new features. Resources, especially resources coded back in the early days of Logos, can contain odd bits of code that others have forgotten.
All this means that the chance of the app crashing now and again is quite high. Most times that means uninstalling and reinstalling the app to clear the system and make a new start. That means a fresh download of all resources which can take time and tie up internet connections for hours.
By only downloading the resources you actually use on the road you minimise this inconvenience. Should you find that there is a resource that you do need it is often only a matter of seconds to download it with minimal time loss and minimal data hit even on mobile data accounts.

I will try off-loading and re-installing the app.
I do have a very large resource installed (Deliverance of God, D Campbell 1200+pages in print edition). I did try annotating a bible which was fully installed and that crashed also.

OK. Deleted the app and re-installed. No change in behaviour. App still crashes after ~10 seconds of the highlight/notes pop up.
Only additional observation: a message with a spiny thing comes up at the top of the note editor saying ‘saving...’ It would appear that the note editor or highlighter are attempting to record our wisdom, getting no re spouse from the website and failing to handle that timeout gracefully.
I think it is high time there was a proper response from Logos. This is clearly a bug, and in my opinion quite a serious one.

I think it is high time there was a proper response from Logos.
Two things:
1) Phil is a senior FL employee.
2) The forums aren't a primary means of communication with FL. The forums are primarily "user supported" help. For an official response, your best bet is to call.

Good to see senior employees engaged in the process. I did note Phil's 'FL' member name but it is not clear that his response is on Logos's behalf.

I logged the issue via the web site before posting on the forum. I haven't received a ticket number yet - hence slight frustration.
This is a serious usability issue for me. I have purchased college text books on Logos and need to keep notes.

If he were answering as an individual rather than as a Logos employee, he would use an account without the FL icon.

Greetings Jeremy
The green flame symbol under Phil's name indicates that he is a Faithlife Employee and using his 'work' account. Just like a Police Constable's warrant he is 'on duty' 24/7 and I have never known a Faithlife employee speak 'off the record'.
By the way the star under my name and those of my ilk indicates that we are volunteers with enough spare time to stalk the forums and offering advice (if not wisdom) when queries are made.
Note that Staff involvement is sporadic an fluctuates as time allows - the expected response on the forum is from other members.
I wanted the official line on something earlier so I got onto Skype, rang them, and asked the question - by far the best method of official contact.

A few days latter and it still happens. My Android phone with the latest app, I highlight some thing (yes it is connected to the wifi, and the bible is downloaded to my phone), and it Kills the app, I restart it and it takes me to where it previously died (the only good point of the post). Just doing my daily reading of the bible, trying to highlight a verse, or attach a note, is getting very tiresome.

Tom, I am sorry to hear that you are still having difficulty with this. I believe using our latest Beta release might improve this situation. Instructions for joining our beta program are available here.

Oops! Sorry about that! I have corrected that, thank you for pointing that out, Graham.

I have tried the iOS beta with the fix for this. It works fine. You can take notes offline and they sync to Faithlife correctly in the background when you are next connected to the internet.
A pretty good showing by Faithlife to fix the bug that quickly.
