I was just wondering why this volume isn’t included in the commentary bundle or the current sale? It looks like it came out in 2008.
I believe the first edition was published in 1971. After Logos published the AYBC this volume had to be pulled due to copyright reasons. I have no idea when this volume made its return to the Logos store. It seems you can still vote on uservoice to make it avaible again in Logos?!

I didn't realize it was back. I wanted for the history; no offense to Albright, but I guess, maybe turning of an era.

I have this volume (1971) and to be honest I find it very, very light. The whole volume is 363 pages. I am in Matt 11 this week and was shocked that the whole chapt was covered in 13 pages!
I don't think it is worth the sale price.....

Guys ... it's been well known for what, decades? Wright wasn't anyones pick for sermon making and Matthew. And his selection by the editor (as with many of the AYB volumes) isn't for the usual, but rather for the unusual. Even in the OT, Wright is passed by, but merits reading for himself. But no, not for sermons.
I admit I’m confused. The thread may have become diverted for some reason to a different book and the comments followed suit. Just to be sure, the OP began with Matthew: Introduction, Translation, and Notes by William Foxwell Albright and C. S. Mann, Anchor Yale Bible (AYB) (Yale University Press, 1995) which is reported as having 576 pages not 363 pages.

It’s listed in the Faithlife page as published in 1995 and also 2008 so I’m assuming that this is a second edition or update of that earlier work.
Mike - Your publication date (1971) and page length (363 pages) doesn’t match the description given by Faithlife – so are you perhaps referring to an earlier version of the book or a different book?
Clifford – Are you referring to Albright’s book and if so, could you share some reasons for thinking the book is useless?

I enjoy reading Denise's posts but it can be quite a challenge to understand what she is saying, especially if English is not your native language. Could this be an example of "rhyming slang", a feature of some English dialects to confuse outsiders?!

Thanks for the insight and quote from Carson - now that is very interesting! On Denise's posts - you may indeed be right. I love reading what Denise has to say on the various threads and often learn something too. But its likely true that from an Australian perspective living at the 'end of the world' and speaking our own language (called "Strine") I will have to confess to occasional confusion over the dialect, strange references and slang emanating from the US colonies. Major apologies. I was thinking Albright but writing Wright. After a coming across Texas and Oklahoma. That's an excuse.
But my point remains the same. I doubt Friedman (hope I got that right) was looking for deep exegesis, when he asked Albright. I certainly wouldn't.
