OH NO!
I'm fairly certain my budget isn't going to like this.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Abraham
Mark, thanks for posting that.
where did you unearth this? social networking? I haven't seen it on reg Logos sites. Just 6 days away, too!
Mark, Mark, Mark....why, why, why?.......Had I not seen your post, I wouldn't have known about March madness. Seeing your post at this very moment is funny because I literally just finished begging my darling husband to purchase, or contribute heavily, to my iPad. Now, I need to come up with a compelling argument to get more money for books!
In all seriousness, thanks for sharing because I missed the post regarding March Madness. I really hope they offer some great titles.
Blessings,
Christina
I literally just finished begging my darling husband to purchase, or contribute heavily, to my iPad.
So, what was his answer?
Oh dear! Oh dear! My wife is not going to like this! After convincing her when my computer died in October that I should move to a Mac at twice the price of a Windows PC, that Platinum L4 was vital in January and Calvin was necessary in February, now it's 64 titles at special offers in March. And the money we should be saving for a new kitchen has already taken a big dent to make those necessary purchases. I just hope none of my PrePubs mature in the next month. Maybe I won't want need any of them.
Like a lemming with a death-wish I've signed up to be informed. [:S]

I think it would be beneficial if allLogos purchases showed up on my credit card statement as a randompick of one of the following:
Housewares
Kitchen Goods
Flowers
Bathroom Accessories
Quilting Supplies
Etc...
The first announcement I saw was on Twitter @Logos
I think it would be beneficial if allLogos purchases showed up on my credit card statement as a randompick of one of the following: Housewares Kitchen Goods Flowers Bathroom Accessories Quilting Supplies Etc...
Love it! Thanks for that!!
I'll vote for that! [;)]

I've not heard of 'March Madness'. Can someone elaborate?
Books are placed in brackets as for a tournament. We vote and the winner in the bracket advances. The farther a book advances, the greater the discount.
Hi Valerie,
You can subscribe if you follow Mark's link at the top of the thread. Hopefully, you will get info. automatically, then. God Bless
That's a valuable request...can we start a thread in the suggestions forum?? [:D]
If you'd like to know how the March Madness promotion worked in 2009, check out the following links to the Logos blog:

Mark, do you have too much time on your hands? I just go out of the dog house.
Don't shoot the messenger. [;)]
As I recall, I was able to get the Francis Schaeffer collection (that I had been wanting to buy) at a bargain price last year.
Indeed I also got the Schaeffer collection last year at a deep discount.
Great! So much for saving up for my Zondervan pre-pub purchase. (Bob, are you certain we can't do Zondervan on a payment plan? Pleeeease!)
Or maybe have Zondervan in the tourney [;)] I am joking of course, or am I [:|]

His answer remains the same.......sure, I can get the iPad, but I have to purchase it with my money. Hey, where's the justice! [;)] Perhaps he'll change his mind once the device is released and the pricing is completely finalized. Yes, I'm still hoping for a subsidized 3G iPad. Okay, can't a girl dream?
Ok folks, we might as well play with this a bit.
What are you HOPING makes it into the March Madness shuffle?
Just for giggles, here's part o my list. Although I admit I'm torn. I'm not sure my budget could sustain many of these unless they make it the whole way.
Hermeneia on CD-ROM 2.0
Anchor Yale Bible (84 Vols.)
Charles Simeon's Horae Homileticae Commentary (21 Vols.)
Classic Commentaries on the Greek New Testament (14 Vols.)
A History of Christian Doctrine (2 Vols.)
Theological Journal Library Volume 12
BDAG/HALOT Bundle
So how about you? What are you hoping to see when the madness begins?
My List:
NICOT/NICNT
Hermeneia
Anchor Yale Bible
N.T. Wright books (if they somehow, magically get published in time)
Baker Theology Collection
if last year's is any indication, it won't be Commentary series, but peculiar collections (like Shaeffer), monographs, and the like.
I just received Hermeneia this week [:$]
My prioritized dream list is:
1) Zondervan Bible Reference Bundle http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5656
2) Yale Anchor Bible http://www.logos.com/products/details/4469
3) Ultimate Archeology Collection http://www.logos.com/products/details/3267
4) Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library (29 Vols.) http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5732
5) International Critical Commentary Series http://www.logos.com/products/details/1906
Here are mine:
ICC NT Commentary
SESB, Version 3
IVP Evangelical Theology Collection
Expositions of Holy Scripture, MacLaren
Evangelical Dictionary of Theology (take it out of the set)
Last year's selection was just individual resources, and they were all under $100 retail, except for Shaeffer. Any wonder it won? [H]
Perhaps we should manage our expectations? [<:o)]
My list of hopes is all on prepub. Except Moo's Romans.

Yeah, we just want Logos to put the A team out on the court, not the bench players.
I would like to see some Zondervan or Baker titles.
Looking at last year's entries there is a price range of $9.95 to $125.00, with the bulk between $30.00 to $40.00. So I'm guessing our choices will be in that range again. And probably one resource in the hundred dollar + range, to take the championship.
It's all very exciting though...[:)]

One reason I didn't jump on several of the 12 Days of Christmas specials is; I like most of the other titles included in the Collections they were gleaned from. My hope is to get the whole Collection, so I just passed on the special. The regular Collection prices are a similar savings to the individual super specials.
These lists read more like fantasies, but I can dream, too! [:D] I've been wanting MacArthur's complete works, the commentaries especially, since I got into Logos a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I never seem to have the free money with the pre-pubs that keep coming out.
I would like to see Shed's "Dogmatic Theology" in the list and the EDNT.
I just hope that there will be no large ticket items costing too much, because I'm already stretched in my book budget and I've got a lot of pre-pubs. What I would like is a chance to get some resources which normally cost $50+ reduced to more affordable prices. The Carson book last year - The Difficult Doctrine of the Love of God - was a good bargain, as was Davidson - The Vitality of Worship: A Commentary on the Book of Psalms. If I could get a few books I want and spend no more than say $100 then I shall be a happy bunny.
[:D]
I would be very happy to see Logos pull out some real quality books in the $20-$40 price range from some of their bigger (and much pricier) collections, similar to what they did with the "12 Days of Logos." That "event" in December allowed me and a lot of others to pick-up some books that are a bit more unique in nature, but still have a broad appeal, like the "Dictionary of Theological Interpretation of the Bible" and "The Drama of Scripture," both of which are among the cream of the crop of a $330 14-book Baker collection.

You dream big, don't you? [:P] I'd also love to pick up ICC NT. Anyone know if these types of sales can be put on the payment plan?
Ditto [Y]
Anyone know if these types of sales can be put on the payment plan?
Generally, "No."
But Dan the Man has been known to open great doors of opportunity on occassion if enough people plead and appeal. [:P]
(Thanks Dan!)

I think that this is one of the great advantages of building a relationship with a salesperson. When the rules need to be bent a little, your salesperson can always get on the phone with their manager (or even Bob or Dan), and plead your case.
While I have no personal experience of this with Logos per se, I have found it to be true throughout my life when it comes to retail purchases.

Paul,
If you are looking to build a relationship with a salesperson, let me suggest Jim-Ray. I have heard others in the forum speak well of him, and found myself transferred to him once when I needed to talk to someone in sales. From this point on, I have solely used Jim-Ray for all my purchases. From the very beginning, he has been kind, informative, and has always worked hard to meet my needs. It really seems like he tries to get you the best deal possible, and is honest when he is unable to discount an item. When I called to get my Pradis user discount, my name was not initially on the list even though I was a registered user. Jim-Ray said he would look into it, and emailed me back when my name was added to list. I really appreciated this effort. Just thought I would throw his name out there for you or anyone else looking for a salesperson to handle their Logos business.

Thanks, but I've always dealt with Jared Bryant. And like you, nothing but positive experiences. [Y]

I recommend Dave Kaplan in sales. He's taken good care of me.

JPS Tanakh Commentary Collection: http://www.logos.com/products/details/2913
Have you talked with Dave lately? I've sent him some email messages for pre-pub orders over the past couple of weeks and haven't received a reply and they haven't shown up on my pre-pub page. He is usually very prompt.
I've been dealing with Dave quite awhile - there was a problem with his email - if there was a link in the body (whenever I ordered pre-pubs I'd put a link to the pub) he'd never get it. Finally figured that one out. Let him know - I have a feeling it is just as frustrating for him.
