[bug report] Select all in Library does not select all

Logos 8.2.0.0015 on macOS Mojave.

  1. open Library
  2. Do some kind of search, or no search at all. The library shows a certain no. of matched result (say 1910)
  3. Select all by Cmd + A
  4. On the Info panel, it says only 50/100/150/350 are selected. This no. is not the same every time.
  5. Scroll down to the end as much as you’d like. It appears as if one really selected all resources (i.e. darker blue conveying selected)

Now change this order to:

  1. open Library
  2. Do some kind of search, or no search at all. The library shows a certain no. of matched result (say 1910)
  3. Scroll down to the end as much as you’d like.
  4. Select all by Cmd + A
  5. (different result here) On the Info panel, it shows the same no. as in step 2, e.g. 1910.

Now changing this order to:

  1. open Library

  3. (different step here) Hit End key on keyboard to reach the end.
  4. Select all by Cmd + A
  5. (different result here) On the Info panel, it says only xxx are selected. This no. is not the same every time, and is not all the resources e.g. 1910.

So apparently the problem is that the library by default doesn’t show everything for performance. But then it handles “select all” incorrectly.

Let me know if one can’t reproduce this bug, and if so let’s sort out how to report it reproducibly.

    For a stopgap measure, one should keep scrolling such that all resources indeed are shown in the Library first, then select all, which will result in actually selecting all.

    This is only one of several (some more significant) library bugs on macOS.

    This may not be feasible depending on the size of library. An alternative is to select one and CMD+A alternately until the selection reaches the full count (each cycle will increase the selection count).

    The flip side of using macOS is that flicking down on a trackpad can cover a lot of ground because of how Apple implement the momentum and prioritize touch gesture.

    As we‘re onto this, I wish Logos on Mac is more Mac like. There’s a story on how Microsoft design Office on Mac to be office like and its reception isn’t good. They learnt that people expect Mac like design and completely redesign the UI on Mac (probably 2016 version comparing to 2011.) And of course the reception is much better.

    Some feature people using Mac would expect are, eg the options in the menu and how typing in the help bar can search all menu items. This is a very useful design in Mac app that I would immediately feel not right when using Windows. For example Adobe softwares are designed to be universal across platforms but they know to implement this on Mac so this feature isnot available on windows. Another example would be AppleScript support.

    Also I’d like to hear more about other regression on Mac. I thought I searched and people said they are now pretty much feature parity. And there’s even a wiki page comparing 2.
