Not a fan of the new homepage UI

I'm really not liking the new homepage UI. I'm finding that it has much reduced readability and usefulness compared to the previous version. I'm also not a fan of the 'ads' which take up 80% of the homepage.

The default homepage layout is:

1. 'Featured' - giant ad.

2. 'Store' - Many smaller ads. The first of which is the same as the giant ad above, and 50% of the remainder is for books I already own.

3. Dashboard. I only get to see a small part of this dashboard without scrolling. The dashboard also takes up more space and provides less information than the previous version.

I know that the layout can be changed. But Logos should have put their 'best foot forward' and not gone with the default ad-heavy layout, instead going for what serves the customer best. I've been surprised that I haven't seen more complaints about the new UI. Are most of you in the forum happy with it?

    Personally, not impressed.

I used the homepage to check on newly installed resources. Now I'm just plain confused.

A "wizard" giving users the option to keep the old layout, would have been more prudent.

    Thanks for your feedback.

As you probably know, you can reorder, collapse, or remove any sections as you'd like. Tap on the section title to collapse or expand. We'll remember how you left it. Tap on the gear icon in the top left to reorder or remove sections.

Many who use the app aren’t customers, and we want to make them aware of buying opportunities. But existing customers should have a different experience. We need to do a better job of differentiating between those two user groups.

I agree the Featured ad is too large on tablets. We've discussed making some improvements to that.

You shouldn't be seeing anything you already own. Are you sure they're not different editions?

We'll keep working to improve the homepage experience.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but how would a user go back to showing added/updated resources/datasets on the homepage, on the desktop UI?

Lee - worth pointing out this is in the mobile app forum.

Information about updated resources / datasets is included in Logos 8.3 on the desktop - due to ship to stable on 4 March

Thanks, Graham! I get that this is the mobile app forum. Just wanted to ask someone who could point to a solution.

By update info on homepage I mean after an update, in the past, I could go to a section in the homepage to see whatever changed. Can't find my way to it now

In the 8.3 release (due next week) there is a notification icon on the status bar that will show what resources have been downloaded and what datasets have been updated. Very similar - though better - to how it worked in Logos 7
