I've heard MM will be completely different this year. Any rumors?
It depends...what did you hear? 👂
Any rumors?
No, so you are free to start any you would like.
Whatever it is going to be, it should be fun. [:)]
Last year it was unheard of! I doubt they’ll be able to match it, unless they do a repeat 👍😁👌 Or...
My dream MM would be a Base Package Face Off, with dynamic pricing activated to maximize the discount! I think we have plenty to vote for 🤑

Discount too small to start with. We ended up just doing the waiting game till it finish. Only the last 3 worth the discounts. Don't put your energy to it.
Every year, MM is ho-hum to me. I have all the titles they offer in it already. They'd have to offer some of the publisher-based expansion bundles for me to have any interest at all, so I could choose publishers that I like. E.g., the Zondervan Ultimate Bible Reference Bundle (210 vols.) or the Eerdmans Theology & Biblical Studies Collection (41 vols.). The latter is in pre-pub still, and they've never offered pre-pubs in MM before to my knowledge, but I like the idea of having pre-pubs offered for an even deeper discount in MM, since some of us already have most everything else we'd want to buy, so we can't benefit from MM. And the MM discount would have to apply on top of any already discounted dynamic price for me or I wouldn't go for it.
Oh crap. There's a big sale every march? I don't think i'll be able to take advantage of it but i hope so. this thread is rather amusing. "any hot rumors."
The word is out! Just received an email from Faithlife that the brackets will include books of the Bible. (How does a parent vote on his/her favorite child?).

😂
There's a big sale every march?
Yes. Typically FL has a sale they call "March Madness." In previous years, various authors were pitted against each other (march madness (American college basketball) / bracket style). The longer an author lasted, the greater the discount. FL & Publishers had control over which resources were discounted... so no promises that every book by an author would be discounted. Typically the "winner" would have a 75% mark down.

Gives a start to some rumors...
Contest of "testaments"? Maybe they are pitting NT Commentaries vs OT Commentaries? Or it's NT Books Throwdown vs OT Books throwdown and then the two testaments will face off in the last round? Big discounts on resources about the book that takes that trophy? Maybe a special round for the dueterocannon... Sirach FTW.

It's beginning, but not live yet.

"Final Four" of OT, NT, Deuterocannon & Gnostic Gospels/Other Testaments?[;)]
Romans will probably win. Pulling for Leviticus!
It looks like this year will be quite a bit different.
Does anyone remember how many years has March Madness been offered now?
I’d like to see some sort of community pricing show off / clearinghouse. Something like the top N items that get closest to their mark get put in production. Gathers interest in items, clears out some items, and everything is guaranteed to be new too everyone.
👍🏽 Just crazy enough to actually work.....

Sounds like a great idea to me!
Hopefully I don't get in trouble for this in the morning... but I'm getting really excited about it too!
You can get a sneak peak of the brackets here: https://www.logos.com/march-matchups-brackets
But just remember, you didn't hear it from me... [:P]
Hopefully dynamic pricing will apply. If it does, I could imagine some nice deals.

Thank You!
BECNT. Y'all with me?
I hear you, brother!
Thanks for sharing, this looks fun.
One thing I have to say though - poor old Habakkuk and Ecclesiastes, they never stood a chance :-(
Looks like it will just be individual commentaries from different books of the bible, not commentary sets. Don´t know if all commentaries sold by Faith-life are going to be included or if there are going to be restrictions?

It would be nice to know the exact commentaries we're voting on. I'm hoping volumes from BECNT will be included. I'd really like the volumes on Luke.

Hot rumor: the sale is now called March Matchups which sounds a lot better for the rest of the world.

It's written on the main page that the winner will get 70% off, but on the 'Rules' page it's written that it will get 60% off. Which one is true?
Interesting that in places it talks about "digital book bundles" but elsewhere it says "64 commentaries". Clear as mud at the moment.......
The rules page says there are 64 commentaries and 32 Mobile Ed courses competing against each other. So, in the commentary bracket, it appears to be one commentary per book of the Bible.

We need a Deuterocanon Madness! (Or Matchup.)
I appreciate that there is a little more early information available than in previous years. They must have applied addional resources to the preparation. As usual, there are several unanswered questions.
I was hoping we would be rewarded an additional 10% discount for each bug, typo, error, etc. that we find and report.[;)]

A great idea!!!
March Matchups which sounds a lot better for the rest of the world.
Probably also sounds a lot better for the suits at the NCAA.

Which has now (by pure coincidence lol) been changed to "64 book bundles" [:D]
Then Black Friday should probably also be renamed.

Go Habakkuk, go!
Word on the street is that Verbum will also be running a bracket on the Church Fathers...

What street is that: Viale Centro del Bosco or Via del Governatorato?

I saw it when it said 64 commentaries, too. Note to self: take a picture next time so that people will believe you.
Bundles it is. That'll save me lots of money. I'm not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed. The format until 2017 used to cost me lots of money as I could buy resources I wanted/needed. Buying bundles of commentary sets (as last year) or bundles of commentaries on a specific book (as this year) costs too much - given they'll include more commentaries than I'll need or want.
I just went though the first round and clicked on a couple of the items. I concur w/ the relieved vs disappointed notion. Looking at the prices, even with the top winner I'm thinking it may be too much money. It's likely to shape us one of two ways.
1) I already have many/most of the resources which will (assuming dynamic pricing) lower the cost but may mean there's not much I want or am interested in.
or
2) The reverse, lots I want but the price is too much to justify.
Oh, well. There's always 2020.
Yeah, just checked the prices for Logos and Verbum and they're all way outside of my budget, even with 70% off. Gutted.
