New to the Logos ecosystem

Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to Logos, but I've heard good things. However I think I must be missing something fundamental. I've downloaded 8.1.2 from the Apple App Store, but it has a very limited range of books for in-app purchase. Essentially, I want to buy an NIV bible, but can't seem to see it for sale anywhere in the app, despite it apparently being the 4th most popular in-app purchase. Am I missing something? How do I get the NIV on my iPhone?

Thanks

Rhys

Hi Rhys - and welcome to Logos and to the forums

You are right that the in-app purchase options in the mobile app are limited (this is for a number of reasons).

The best way is to go to the Logos store in a browser outside of the app - https://www.logos.com/products/search

From there you can choose from a wide range of resources to purchase. If you ensure you log into Logos.com with the same credentials you use to login to the app then purchases will appear in the mobile apps (assuming they are supported on mobile).

The NIV specifically is available at https://www.logos.com/product/8787/new-international-version

    Hope this helps, Graham

Ok, thanks for that and for replying so quickly. Does it mention this anywhere on the App Store? I couldn't find any mention of it in FAQs etc. It really looked like I should be able to do in-app purchases so I was quite confused when I couldn't. I'll do as you suggest, and download if from your website, but can I suggest you make this clearer on the App Store and in your documentation. It's not great to have such a confusing introduction to a new product.

    Thanks

    Rhys

    Thanks for your feedback.

Hopefully someone from Faithlife will see this and comment on it.

I can't change anything - I'm just another user of the software.

I think the problem is that Apple does not allow advertising things that are sold outside their store/in-app-purchase. And from every sale inside the store they get a big chunk - pretty bad deal for companies like Logos...

FL has previously commented on this. If I remember right, Apple takes a whopping 30% (compared to 0% when sold through the Logos website). Therefore, the Apple IAP store is apparently not very well stocked. (I've never seen it as I don't own any Apple products.)

I suspect that Apple assumes that their app publishers own every item that is sold through their IAP store, and just don't care for publishers that want to sell items that need licensing from a third party (such as the NIV).
