Bring back passage in all versions

I used this function a lot in Logos 3 and miss it in Logos 4.

In the mean time you can use text comparison, and include as many bibles as you like for it. It's not the same as ALL versions unless you type them all in. But the principle is close.

Yes, but Passage in All Versions was more convenient, especially after they added the Language filters so you could just select the languge you wanted. Now I have to set up collections (dynamic yes, but still have to set them up) for any languges I would want to do this. I bope the old ease of use returns.

Make a collection with a rule of type:bibles. Name it Bibles. go to text comparison and select "Bibles" from the middle section. This should give you what your looking for.

Actually that's not bad, and maintains the integrity of the report, and is dynamically expandable.

If you want you can create different collection

Bibles

Bibles lang:en

Bibles lang:el

etc...

English Bibles was one of the first collections I made during the Beta. Greek was pretty early too. But why should I have to make the collections in order for such basic functionality to work? Yes, once I set it up, it is fine. But the Philosophy of Logos 4 is that it work without us having to get behind the scenes to make it work. It should work out of the box, so to speak (ok, after initial indexing),

Oh, while it didn't work the first time I tried it, it worked in later betas and the release to change the base text by saying to work from "NRSV, English Bibles" instead of just "English Bibles" where it was comparing everything with Darby on my system. The code processing this is pretty good. The visual results are nice. But it just takes more setup to make it work than it sbould, in my opinion.

Kenneth, most people only want to compare a few translations, and the new compare report is designed to work according to the collections you create. As I see it, it's working exactly as designed. That way , you can compare what you want to compare and are not stuck comparing what Bob P. wants to compare.

Sort of. Another big motivator is keeping the interface clean. This means if it can be accomplished one way, they will be reluctant to provide a second because it would require adding to the UI. I would suggest adding the type:bibles to the list in the drop down box, right above the mytag: statements.

Yes, as a practical matter it is often wiser to limit the number of translations you compare. But I got more than a few gee-wiz reactions when I showed the 3.0 all versions to people. Also, for those who are scared of the Original Languages even with the crutches Logos offers, the best they can do is to surround themselves with as many translations as they can find, in as many languages as they can.

I don't really find it useful, but FWIW I'm using the Beta and an option is available to view it in all resources.

I miss it too...I did set up my 3 Bibles in a Collection named Bibles, but when I cut and paste into my Word Document, it does not spread out nicely as Version 3 did...it stacks them up on the left side...not pretty anymore....please bring this option back....

Did you try setting the Text Comparison Pane menu to Horizontal?

Yep, and in Word for Version 3 it leaves more spacing between each one than what is shown on the above post....it really looks great when handing out a prepared Sunday School lesson...guess I will have to leave version 3 on my computer to continue doing this...

I figured out how to fix it in Word.....

How to do Comparison Passage cells using Logos 4

1.
In Logos4, do a “Reading View” of the Text
Comparison box.

2.
Highlight the entire wide view and do a Ctrl-C
to copy it.

3.
Do a Ctrl-V and paste it into a Word document.

4.
Highlight the bad looking cell, then do a right
click, and select autofit to window.

5.
Put the cursor inside the cell and a “Table
Tools” box will appear on top.

6.
Click on the “Table Tools” box and click on the
first grid on the left….and there you have it looking great…..

This worked for me. That's awesome. I thought I had lost this feature. I set up a "English Bibles" collection and it works great! One question I have remaining is about the "Show Differences" option. The Text Comparison window decides that the first Bible in the window (which is alphabetically ordered, so "1890 Darby Bible" is first) is the baseline for comparison. How do I change the baseline for comparison to, say, RSV or whatever? Is that possible? Thanks!

I don't recall that being an add in but those who know my memory will know that's not the best judge of history. [*-)]

At any rate, I still believe the combination of collections plus the comparison dialog which are AFAIK in every L4 installation replicate the behavior of the original report.
