How to Search for two different words within a certain range

I'm a big confused on how to run this search. I'm trying to run two searches. One for passages where Jesus, Christ, and Lord appear within a certain number of words of each other. A second for passages were Jesus and Christ appear within a certain number of words but Lord is not within a certain number of words.

I started with the second search first and tried using this syntax but I did not get any results which I know isn't correct. What's wrong with my syntax?

(Jesus WITHIN 1-10 WORDS Christ) AND NOT WITHIN 100 WORDS lord

Just playing around …. I modified to - (Jesus WITHIN 1-10 WORDS Christ) AND NOT Lord - and seem to have some good results; 92 results in 30 articles in ESV.  At least a starting point.  Not sure what the 100 word limitation is doing or whether you need it for your research.

    Try this

(Jesus WITHIN 1-10 words christ) NOT WITHIN 100 words Lord

    Try this

(Jesus WITHIN 1-10 words christ) NOT WITHIN 100 words Lord

    That worked--thank you

Just to clarify--it appears the "within word" search only searches a verse. For example, using this search I find results that appear valid, however Lord is clearly within 100 words but appears in a different verse. Is there a way to sell it to search across verses words?

A Bible Search operates within verse boundaries

If you switch to a Basic Search - and use that to search your Bible - it will operate within chapter boundaries

As Graham stated, the bible search does work within verse boundaries. My response was intended to answer the OP's question regarding syntax for the search he was trying to run.

Running the same search NOT WITHIN 25 words or more will return the same results. Once you begin reducing the number to something less than NOT WITHIN 25, you begin returning more results.

    NOT WITHIN 100 words - 308 in 146
    NOT WITHIN 50 words - 308 in 146
    NOT WITHIN 25 words - 308 in 146
    NOT WITHIN 24 words - 309 in 147
    NOT WITHIN 15 words - 312 in 148
    NOT WITHIN 12 words - 313 in 149
    NOT WITHIN 10 words - 315 in 150
